4.0 out of 5 stars good, but not what it could have been, February 14, 2005
This review is from: One Tree Hill (Audio CD)
One tree hill is the best place available right now to discover new music. Aside from single handedly launching the careers of Gavin DeGraw and Tyler Hilton, it has also helped little known bands such as Keane and Snow Patrol, however, if you've watched the show from the beginning and have been dreaming about the perfect soundtrack, you may be disappointed. It's a myth to me, after all of the excellent selections for the show, why the soundtrack has been so poorly put together. Some of the best songs ever featured, including snow patrol's Run, from the first season finale, Jimmy eat world's 23, and Keane's she has not time, are all absent. There is no Johnathan rice, I am Kloot, modest mouse, Dashboard confessional, or Ben Lee on this soundtrack, even though those songs were some of the most memorable from the series.

I realize that both keane and jimmy eat world already have songs on the CD, but both of the aformentioned songs are better and more memorable than the two on the CD, and Tyler hilton had two songs, so why can't they? They're better. The exclusive material is nice, and Sidewalks and the live version of I don't wanna be, are some of the most fun songs on the CD, but the actual version of tyler hilton's glad is better than the acoustic, and I don't ever want to hear Sheryl crow's rendition of the first cut is the deepest again, let alone the acoustic version. This leads me to the Wreckers and Tyler hilton and Bethany joy lenz. "The good kind" is one of my favorite songs on the album, as is when the stars go blue, and Bethany Joy Lenz is definately talented. If nothing else, by the CD for these two exclusives.

Other highlights include Overdue, by the little know get up kids, Shoot your gun by the 22-20's, mixtape by butch walker, and Keane and Jimmy eat world's contributions. There is one more great song, but beforethat, I must tell you what the problem is with TV soundtracks. The best songs that really catch your ear when first featured on the show, are the ones that make you go out to buy the album. For that reason, I had to cut the Keane and Jimmy eat world out when I ripped it onto my iPod because I already had the albums. I replaced them with some other great songs, but the thing is, it seems like I never have the best songs on the soundtrack when I listen. It was wise of them to put some stuff not yet featured. That way, they can get the fans money before they go off to buy the actual album. For that reason, I am going to exclude those two songs, and say that in second comes Lie in the sound, by the completely unknown trespassers william. It's beautiful, and it's definately a welcome suprise.

But above all is Butch Walkers "Mixtape" a song with flawless melodies and pianos mixed with Walkers execllent voice and lyrics that creates four minutes of the best music you'll hear this decade. Butch Walker is well on his way to being the best solo artist on the scene today, and with one of the best albums of 2004 and a debut just as good, it looks as if this guy will entrance and gain fans, while never losing the old ones.

Overall, the soundtrack it good, aside from several mis-steps (the almost painful funny little feeling and the slightly boring re-offender,and the first cut is the deepest) which I would of liked to have replaced by better songs, I rank it close to the OC soundtrack, but despite the fact that One Tree Hill has featured better music overall than the OC, the OC soundtracks remain better and more innovative collections. It offers fans many familiar sounds, and a few suprises. It's good, but the show has featured better songs.

I love the show since the first second and was waiting for the soundtrack to be available. It's the case now and i'm not disappointed at all!...
All the songs are great and some of them are inedit versions which gives more credit to this CD because it's not just a compilation,it's real mix with a spirit (the lyrics of each songs can be relate to the atmosphere of the serie and its characters).
As a Michelle Branch i was glad to hear her new song and can't wait for the weckers to have their album available.
I love bethany joy lenz's voice and was a little disappointed that her version of elswhere wasn't on the CD...But gladly, her duet with tyler hilton is!...
Anyway,it's a really great CD so buy it!

This review is from: One Tree Hill (Audio CD)
When I bought this cd, I bought it because I am a fan of One Tree Hill. I liked the music on the show so I decided to buy the cd. Although I didn't know a lot of the artists on the album at the time, I listened to all of the songs and they were great! I have become a fan of all the artists on the album and I hope there is a second One Tree Hill soundtrack coming out soon! GOD BLESS!!!!!!!

This review is from: One Tree Hill (Audio CD)
this CD was purrdy good, but I think the song "hands down" by Dashboard Confessional should have been on there... It's the song that's playing in the car when Peyton almost hits Lucas with the car.. CLASSIC scene, CLASSIC song!! That's the first time that I heard that song, and now its my fave!!

This review is from: One Tree Hill (Audio CD)
This is a great CD! I love listening to it in the car, before bed and at work. A lot of great songs, but I must say the second soundtrack is the best! I feel they are both must have in your collection.
