Extremely Well Done & Necessary Clarification,
By rodboomboom (Dearborn, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: One True God: Understanding the Large Catechism II 66 (Paperback)
This is outstanding contribution to clarifying a disagreement in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod over a fellowship issue, namely that of Christians and other world religions.
The controversy has surfaced centered around the interpretation of Large Catechism II 66b. Engelbrecht carefully, meticulously goes through the possibilities surrounding Luther's use of the concessive conjunction in this passage as well as the the verbs "worship" and "believe" in this passage to show that Luther would not allow the liberal interpretation and application of this passage that non-Christians have the same God as the Christians. This is vital not only in midst of LCMS controversy, but as well in Christian body. Kudos to Engelbrecht and CPH for publishing! |
