2.0 out of 5 stars Just talk February 15, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This was a free Kindle download and I was pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't just a short, short story like a lot of those downloads are. It was actually pretty good. I liked Cassie and William and their rocky road to marital bliss. I enjoyed his large family and see many more stories ahead. The book moved along and I stayed fairly engrossed.
I was only fairly engrossed because I felt the love scenes were too many and too drawn out. I want to read about the characters talking, not just having sex. And that was the crux of my problem with this book. Not enough talking--just way too much jumping the gun and drawing the wrong conclusion. They both did it and it made me want to scream. They would start to talk and one would get offended or misinterpret what the other was saying and would storm out. This is a case of, if they had talked, they would have sorted out their problems. Of course that makes for an awfully short story. Take out the sex and there's not a lot left.
There is a good story here. IMO, it just needed a little refining. And more talking. I would rather read good dialogue from the characters than page after page of sex. That tends to blur a bit after a while. The books I remember the most and reread are the books with heartfelt dialogue between the characters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Plot, Mediocre Writing, Horrid Editing May 17, 2012
By Sandy G
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm glad this was a free download because I would have been cranky had I paid money for this one. The plot was decent, but the writing was onerous. I like my characters to be believable, and the main characters here were not - they were suppose to be adults, but they acted more like a spoiled, little kid who needed a whack along side the head. In addition, the lead female "got wet down there" so many times under such ridiculous circumstances, I wanted to buy her a Depends.

Add to that some major editing issues - word choice (something hard to imagine is "surreal, not "so real"); extra characters in a sentence that changed the meaning of the sentence; two characters had the spelling of their names changed...within the same paragraph; and past and present tense were used in the same sentence. These are thing that should be addressed in any junior high writing class.

Overall, the writing needs rescuing - not the "heroine" of the book. Glad that I clicked through the last half quickly so I could avoid most of the writing and just see if there was a twist at the end (there wasn't).

4.0 out of 5 stars Looking for Love September 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The second son of a Marquis, Lord William Prescott is under an ancient curse - "every second son of the Marquis of Camberly will never marry and live alone for eternity." It would have been alright if Lord William just wanted to sow his wild oats. But he wanted to get married and therein lays the problem.

He had been rejected 12 times and the 13th woman who caught his eyes is Miss Cassandra Chambers is betrothed. And to make matters worse, Lord William felt that Cassandra was also attracted to her!

What to do! What to do? Whatever William and Cassandra do, it would be a big scandal. On the other hand, perhaps a scandal is what was needed for them to get married. But, will they take the plunge.

An easy and fast read, "Looking for Love" is a great book to curl up too in these cool fall days that are coming. Due to several sex scenes, the book is PG 15.

Note: Some people have asked me why I give a PG 15 rating. My answer is, the accepted PG 13 is not acceptable since to me a 13-year old is still too young to be subjected to sex scenes. But, the book is still mild enough not be classified as Rated M (for mature audience only)

PG 13 is meant for movies. As movie goers, we all know that a kiss is just a kiss, and though there might be some bedroom scenes, most of the time, you don't see anything although it is implied that something happened. PG 13 (Parental guidance for children 13 and below) is enough as a rating.

But books are different. The author's description is more potent because of the reader's imagination. I had to raise it to PG 15 because I believe that 15-year olds and below need parental guidance to understand what is going on.

1.0 out of 5 stars No originality...... March 14, 2012

This was a free download for me so I can't complain too much, however this story was all over the place. The hero of the book doesn't come close to the time period, and the heroin doesn't fit either. There are too many misuderdtandings and repetition. I found myself skimming through this book. The middle of the book to me was the ending. They both cofesed their love for one another then the rest of the book is all sex scenes with horrible dialog. I also found that almost every conflict came with a "convient" resolution. And a secret garden..... come on get your own ideas!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars kind of dry in dialogue and overall plot February 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really wanted to like this book. Its a long read. Cassie is engaged to a Mr. Parker when she meets William and low and behold they are very attracted to each other. Mr. Parker and Cassie run away to Greta Green to be married but she comes back in disgrace. William looking for his chance makes an offer to her parents for Cassie. The rest of the book is pretty much sex, misconceptions between Cassie & William, a whole little subplot of a family curse on William, & hardly any dialogue.
I found myself skipping over parts ( read sex scenes etc) just to get to the end. The end was a bit of a disappointment as well, I am assuming the author was hoping to put out a sequal. Unless you are attempting to kill time just skip this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars poorly developed
I love a good bodice-ripper every once in a while, but general character development is still needed to carry the story. This book doesn't deliver.
