This was such an amazing movie. I've been searching for the soundtrack for a long time. While the musical score is beautiful, I too was disappointed to discover that Bette Midler's wonderful song was nowhere to be found on it.

No score can describe the heart of human loss and nature than the music to this film, which I've listened to more times than having seen the film. It truly evokes inner feelings too difficult to openly express in times of peril and heartache. It is soft and gentle, just like the tone of the film, as well as the atmosphere in a house when someone or something that means a lot is threatened to be mercilessly taken away. Truly the Academy doesn't know a genuine film score when they hear it.

IN THE TRAILER FOR THIS FILM, LANDSLIDE BY STEVIE NICKS WAS PLAYED. WHERE IS IT IN THE SOUNDTRACK?

A dear friend gave me this CD for XMAS. I can tell you that after you watch One True Thing, you'll remember so many wonderful scenes, Meryl was superb. The score is just beautiful, it really captured the feeling in this film, almost like the soundtrack for those of us who have lost our mothers. This is one of those CDs you listen to while you're driving and count your blessings to. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I would have bought the cd if the song Bette Midler sang had been on it. "My One True Friend" is a beautiful song.

I have listened to and bought this soundtrack and I love hearing all the "music" instead of all the other stuff you hear on other soundtracks. I am a big fan of classical music and this soundtrack has helped me realize why.

The soundtrack of ONE TRUE THING is that rare experience in film these days: music that actually complements and enriches, rather than distracting from, a fine film. The compositions are spare and elegiac, capturing beautifully the serenity and depth of a poignant and powerful film. The fact that the sappy title tune which Bette Midler warbles over the credits is not included is actually a bonus; it belongs nowhere in this exceptional score.

I wanted to come to the defence of the Bette Midler song "My One True Friend". I think it is a beautiful song and it certainly brings out the chill bumps for me! The writers have a first class pedigree being Carole King, Carole Bayer Sager (who has written smashes with Burt Bacharach) and David Foster. This song definitely should have been on the soundtrack album.

"one true friend" is not on this songtrack...just feel that this cd is not completed.
