5.0 out of 5 stars A Boynton classic that should be in your collection!
This book often sits next to "Goodnight Moon" and "Where the Wild Things Are" on our 18 month old's bookshelf, but according to him it's better than those classics. 3.0 out of 5 stars Seriously?
There is a part in the book where it says, Six is good for running a race, unless you're the one who is in last place, or something like that. Anyway, I wouldn't want to teach my child it's not ok to come in last. I wish she chose something else to rhyme with :) LOVE SANDRA BOYNTON BOOKS, this one is not my fave.

This book often sits next to "Goodnight Moon" and "Where the Wild Things Are" on our 18 month old's bookshelf, but according to him it's better than those classics. He loves identifying the characters, their actions, and their expressions. We have lots of fun reading this whimsical book over and over...especially the part about "ten makes a celebration LOUD, LOUD, LOUD...and one is wonderful after a crowd" because of the voice range you can use. A definite to have with or without a Boynton collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars "One is good for a quiet talk....", December 31, 2003

Unsurprisingly with a name like One, Two, Three!, this is a counting book, but it isn't the average counting book. This is a Boynton book we are talking about after all. In this book we are counting critters. "One is good for a quiet walk. Two is right for a quiet talk." Just like in Hippos Go Berserk, (another book by Sandra Boynton), we count up to ten, but this time we don't count down again and we aren't only counting hippos, although hippos appear many times in the book. (A plus in my mind.) Just like all those other Boynton books, this one rhymes and flows wonderfully. The pictures are excellent too: cute, bright, bold, and colorful. This book rates high on my list of favorite Boynton books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, September 20, 2001

This review is from: One, Two, Three! (Boynton on Board) (Board book)
This is a wonderful book.

I love books for children that have simple pictures that aren't too distracting. When the pictures have too much going on in them, it's hard to get the story. This book has simple pictures.

I love books that lead to other activities using the book- for example, in this book we can count the animals, make the sounds of the animals, act like the animals are acting, etc. Wonderful.

My son LOVES the last bit- Loud Loud Loud! He gets very excited reading that part. I would say that this doesn't work as a night time book for us.

However, this is a wonderful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb counting book, April 19, 2005

This review is from: One, Two, Three! (Boynton on Board) (Board book)
A Counting book that not only introduces numbers but animals as well. We love this better than the classic "How Do Dinosaurs Count to Ten" and the series "Chika Chika 123". This makes counting really fun and enjoying. My son would ask for this during the day when he's done playing. We read different sets of books at night and at day time, but this book gets a consistent request from him. He helps me count the animals in each page by pointing on to them one by one. With the help of this book, I bet he'd learn counting ahead of his alphabet. No doubt about that. It's a must have for your children.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALWAYS FUN SANDRA BOYNTON, May 17, 2005
This review is from: One, Two, Three! (Boynton on Board) (Board book)
At 2 1/2 my son is really starting to outgrow the typical toddler books but Boynton's books, because of the lyrical rhymes and hilarious and charming illustrations remain favorites to read all the time. As you might guess, this book is a counting book as various animal groups engage in activities with increasing numbers on each page, all the way up to ten. The books are as fun to read for a parent as they are for a child to listen to and when you add in that they are also learning their numbers AND their animals, you really can't go wrong. This one is another winner from Sandra!

Some of the rhymes reach a bit. If you were a first time writer and you presented this one, you'd be laughed away. However, Boynton's drawings are clever enough. The counting's easy. It's not too typical for a counting book. I do like the ending.
Her characters are always fat little funny animals doing very human things. That's a treat. I like the idea of a mommy cat and a kid cat sitting by the fire in an easy chair having a cat chat.
We read this one a lot. It's a board book so it's nice and durable. My two kids have probably chewed on every book we've got. This one endures.
This could be a good choice for a new mom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grandma thinks FUN, April 11, 2007
This review is from: One, Two, Three! (Boynton on Board) (Board book)
I found the book fun. It is easy to read and understand and all ages can enjoy it. If you are reading to different ages it will hold the attention of the younger children because of the colorful pictures, the older children will read along because they have it memorized. I have just about all of Sandra Boynton;s books for the kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Always a hit at bedtime, September 19, 2006

This review is from: One, Two, Three! (Boynton on Board) (Board book)
My 16 month old daughter has loved this book at bedtime since she was 8 months old or so. She immediately is captured by the counting and rhyming pace of this board book and gets ready to settle down for the night. Another Boynton best.

I've had this book for my daughter since she was a newborn. She's now 15 months and loves it. The cutout on the front cover intrigues her endlessly. The rhymes are short and cute. She loves to turn the pages herself. This is a book she grabs over and over again to be read.
