"One, Two, Three! This Book 's for Me" is a reading and counting book - one of the best of its kind - for children of ages 2-5. Especially designed from a child's point of view, it teaches kids to count and read by using picto-words(TM): images below the text that help a child to guess the words. The book features brightly colored pictures, lively lines with rhythm and rhyme, and a word/picture glossary. Toddler tested in day-care centers and preschools, this book aims to set a child on a path to early learning.

PreSchool-K-Through pedestrian, rhymed text, Samuel encourages children to count items from 1 to 10. There is editorializing throughout, beginning with page one: "This book is fun!" Various words are colored within the text without a logical explanation. The text is written in all capital letters because the author, whose authority is not given, believes it is best for children who are beginning to learn letters, despite other reading philosophy that points out that prereaders should become familiar with seeing both upper- and lowercase letters. The glossary is arranged in columns rather than left to right, and is confusing. Illustrations show interesting texture within the pictures of grass on nearly every page, but the picture of Farmer Phillip with a huge hand and a misshapen head is grotesque. Pass on this one.

A very useful picture book to teach preschool reading,

I have a five year old girl. She has benefitted greatly from this book. I use the picture glossary at the back of the book to teach ABC... phonics. The text has a nice rhythm that reminds me of the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom". The sentences also rhyme nicely and I noticed that this helps my daughter to read the rhyming words. I strongly recommend this highly educational book.

This Book's For Me! is a simple yet enjoyable counting picture book presenting the numbers 1 to 10, illustrated with simple, bold color pictures. I have two children -- ages 2 and 4. I am using "One, Two, Three! This Book's for Me" to teach the younger one to count. I have several counting books and "One, Two, Three" is definitely the best. I am also using the book to teach my older child to read with some success. I strongly recommend this book.
