5.0 out of 5 stars The Voice
After a selection of three anthologies from the Australian Voice, it's great to finally have a 'best of' album to celebrate an excellent music career spanning 4 decades. For the die-hard fan, or for those who have never expereinced the magic of our Australian larrikan, "One Voice" is a lovely example of a lifetime of work. For those who have never experienced a...

3.0 out of 5 stars John is THE voice
I love John Farnham. No other singer has ever touched me as he has. His music is guaranteed to make me happy. I adore his voice and love everything he sings. However, there have been a couple of not so good songs ("I've been so lonely" was a really strange and painful song, thank god he didn't release it as a single), but there are none on this collection...

For those who have never experienced a live concert, get yourself to the Tempus Two concert or similar, before it finally is The Last Time. A nice selection to compliment this CD is "Full House" -A live recording with some of his better-known hits.

US audience, have a listen. Farnham is the only artist to have a number one hit in each decade since the 60s. And still going strong. Will appeal to middle of the road/pop audience.

John Farnham is everything we love about Australia

He is still the greatest Voice ever to come out of Australia. What a shame he is now retiring vom singing.

I love John Farnham. No other singer has ever touched me as he has. His music is guaranteed to make me happy. I adore his voice and love everything he sings. However, there have been a couple of not so good songs ("I've been so lonely" was a really strange and painful song, thank god he didn't release it as a single), but there are none on this collection.

Only the well known songs are on here, plus the bonus of "We Will Rock You". I will always be a Johnny fan and will go to every concert (but I don't like Tom Jones so I'm staying away from the Tom & John one), but all fans probably have all these songs already. I didn't buy this album, but purchased the one bonus song online. However, the DVD of this collection is a MUST have for all John fans. I give the CD 3/5, but the DVD 5/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Voice - Pure Listening Pleasure, February 17, 2005

This review is from: One Voice: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This double-set CD release was meant to give the old Farnham listeners as well as the newly found listeners an abridged version of John Farnham's greatest hits. Whatever your favourite songs, they are most probably right here in this compilation. 'Pressure Down', 'A Touch of Paradise', 'Chain Reaction' and 'Burn For You' are the outstanding songs of Disc 1.
'You're the Voice', 'Angels' and 'Reasons' are the top picks of Disc 2. Get this CD for the simple and delightful pleasure of pure bliss

5.0 out of 5 stars Johnny is the greatest!, November 6, 2004
This review is from: One Voice: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I have been a John Farnham fan since my brother gave me the 'Age of Reason' c.d. for my birthday and he never fails to energise me. This c.d. is a compilation of most of his greats, from his socially conscious songs 'Age of Reason,' 'That's Freedom,' and 'You're the Voice' to his beautiful ballads, 'Touch of Paradise', 'Burn for you', and 'Angels', not to mention his fantastic version of the Beatles 'Help'. Also included are such geats as 'When something is wrong with my baby' with Jimmy Barnes, 'Everything's Alright' form Jesus Christ Superstar with Kate Cebrano and Jon Steven' and 'Everytime you cry' with Human Nature, all fantastic Australian vocalists themselves. Of course the winning track, that is still requested at every live performance for more than twenty years, is the fun-loving 'Sadie, the cleaning lady.' I would highly recommend this album to anyone interested in great music, either to start a John Farnham collection of just to compete it.

I only bought this CD for the track "You're The Voice". The others available were fine, but not great.

3.0 out of 5 stars So So, October 13, 2008
This review is from: One Voice: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Frankly, I had bought this item for the sake of one song ONLY "You're the voice" which I absolutely love. I had hoped the other songs would be almost as good - at least 20% of them. However I was disappointed probably because I am not very familiar with John's music in general. I could have opted with less expensive single disc collections containing "You're the voice".

5.0 out of 5 stars QUEEN - You Should've Hired John Farnham!!!, January 22, 2005
By
This review is from: One Voice: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Like many of you, I was already a John Farnham fan and was first introduced to his work here in the U.S. through his tenure with the Little River Band. The guy absolutley sings his Aussie hiney off! In the years since his LRB days, I have purchased a couple of his solo discs and enjoyed them thoroughly. When I saw this collection here at Amazon, I had to get it. Good grief, was I ever shocked and amazed at John's take on "We Will Rock You". Rumor has it that John was being considered to front a forthcoming Queen project and tour, so Brian May sent the original "We Will Rock You" tracks to John and he laid down one of the most amazing rock vocals I've ever heard. Freddy Mercury would be blown away with it. In fact, John's vocal is so amazing that it inspired Brian & Roger Taylor to add a new section to the original tracks (they have since hired Paul Rodgers of "Bad Company" fame, ho hum, oh well) . Fans, don't worry, the new section sounds like vintage Queen (no hip hop or 21st century sounding nonsense). I could go on and on about how great it is, but you're going to have to get off your arse and buy it. It's worth every penny!
