Get this remastered CD now! Like the other reviewers, I have all the Cactus albums on LP and this one sounds very much alive on the CD! Hard rock Blues from the seventies--Jim McCarty is one hell of a guitar player and Rusty Day is a great singer-the raw loud voice, and with Tim Bogart on bass and Carmine Appice on drums-youi have a very excellent sound. I saw them numerous times at the Fillmore West in San Francisco and they tore up the show--they played many times with Ten Years After and Toe Fat (remember them?) at these shows--what a combination. Get this one-spend the money--Hey--get all their albums-they are all great!!! The newly formed lineup(2006) is good but not like this one----Go for it!!!

This CD is one of the best CDs of the 1970s if you like your rock on the hard side with r&b and boogie mixed in. The rhythm section of Bogert and Appice is excellent (originally from Vanilla Fudge and after with Jeff Beck in BB&A), Jim McCarty is a great guitar player and the late Rusty Day was a very capable and talented vocalist. There is not a bad cut on this CD. The first three Cactus CD's (Cactus - which is superb, this and Restrictions) along with the limited release Rhino live CDs are well worth the investment to those of you who've heard them before, or are looking for a great rock band from the early 70s that isn't well known. 'Ot and Sweaty and Cactus V are worth checking out as well (but in my opinion a notch below the others for two reasons, one the death of Rusty Day and the lack of McCarty and Day on 'Ot and Sweaty). The first side of the old LP DOES rock and the second site is very nice and bluesy and filled with great music (and playing). The rendition of Long Tall Sally is a great start to the CD. It's an LP I've loved since it's original release. Get this and the first Cactus CD and you decide.Cactus
