Get this remastered CD now! Like the other reviewers, I have all the Cactus albums on LP and this one sounds very much alive on the CD! Hard rock Blues from the seventies--Jim McCarty is one hell of a guitar player and Rusty Day is a great singer-the raw loud voice, and with Tim Bogart on bass and Carmine Appice on drums-youi have a very excellent sound. I saw them numerous times at the Fillmore West in San Francisco and they tore up the show--they played many times with Ten Years After and Toe Fat (remember them?) at these shows--what a combination. Get this one-spend the money--Hey--get all their albums-they are all great!!! The newly formed lineup(2006) is good but not like this one----Go for it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD and band, October 11, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This CD is one of the best CDs of the 1970s if you like your rock on the hard side with r&b and boogie mixed in. The rhythm section of Bogert and Appice is excellent (originally from Vanilla Fudge and after with Jeff Beck in BB&A), Jim McCarty is a great guitar player and the late Rusty Day was a very capable and talented vocalist. There is not a bad cut on this CD. The first three Cactus CD's (Cactus - which is superb, this and Restrictions) along with the limited release Rhino live CDs are well worth the investment to those of you who've heard them before, or are looking for a great rock band from the early 70s that isn't well known. 'Ot and Sweaty and Cactus V are worth checking out as well (but in my opinion a notch below the others for two reasons, one the death of Rusty Day and the lack of McCarty and Day on 'Ot and Sweaty).

The first side of the old LP DOES rock and the second site is very nice and bluesy and filled with great music (and playing). The rendition of Long Tall Sally is a great start to the CD. It's an LP I've loved since it's original release. Get this and the first Cactus CD and you decide.Cactus

Epic blues rock and quite possibly the most underated hard rock record of the 70's! I can't believe I got my hands on the remastered japanese CD - worth every penny of it's forty dollar price tag. The packaging is quite impressive with the look and feel of the 70's vinyl release. The sound of this record is spectacular - a must purchase for any Cactus fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding "Top 10 All Time" Hard Blues-Rock Album!, January 27, 2007
I bought this album(vinyl) in a cut out bin in 1972. Since then, it has certainly been one of my prized possessions. This is without a doubt one of the finest hard blues-rock bands ever! Side one(the first 4 cuts) will rock you out of your seat! This is 3 piece rock at its best! My friend called this side the "feel so good" side. The other side(last four cuts) is very bluesy but well done(the "feels so bad"side). If you like really pure hard rocking blues from the early 70's, this is a must! I know that the CD is rare and costly. I'll be watching for someone to find the masters and re-releasethe CD. It's truly a classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cactus is Hot!, February 14, 2007
By
Buy this CD for two reasons. First, it's a re-mastered limited edition by JVC. The Japanese pressing of this album comes in a LP sleeve replica of the original album (paper). The sound quality is wonderful. Seriously, it didn't sounded this good back in 71 or 72 when I bought the original LP. This is the second (and best) studio album with the original line-up: Carmine Appice (Drummer) and Tim Bogert (Bass) from Vanilla Fudge, Jim McCarty (INCREDIBLE GUITAR) from Mitch Ryder, and Rusty Day vocals (Ted Nugent & Amboy Dukes). Second, this is a hard, edgy blues-rock album with one of the greatest underrated guitar players of all time.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the Three, March 30, 2007
Awesome.....absolutely gripping blues-rock and historical. So who's gonna pay nearly 40 bucks for it? I guess music is now for the priveleged few. The music industry has not changed a bit. Thank God My acetate platter, or was it vinyl, is still playable. Screw the bastards! I just payed 9 bucks for a rare Muddy Waters/Mike Bloomfield gig; money talks, Cactus walks!

Great album and great band...but I can't believe people still pay $13 for a CD. I don't think I've bought a CD since like 2004.

as many have stated this is a fine album, i listened to it in summer 08 and find it still a cut above most of what was played and of course what is being played now,,,,the hard rock and the bluesy licks with some mellow mellow acoustic make this an all time favorite, great to see them reunited takes me back to times that can not be surpassed in the rock scene
