Editorial Reviews

Product Description

The Darkness return with their second album, One Way Ticket To Hell...And Back. Everything you've heard is true. All of it. The exhaustion and the fear, the pressure, paranoia and pan pipes, the breakdowns and break-ups, the sackings, sitar solos and endless studio sessions and now ultimately-with this, their second album-the rebirth and redemption of The Darkness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love Darkness, June 5, 2008
By Gracie Houston (Santa Cruz, California) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I remember a few years ago when The Darkness launched their first album and single. The video was hilarious with them poking fun at the whole rock "thang" but at least they were having fun with it and not taking it seriously, like the bands they were mocking. So now they are back with an album produced by Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars). Now original bassist Frankie Pouillan, even though he did co-write a few of the songs, is replaced by Richie Edwards.

The album opens with an intro and someone snorting coke. The album is much like what you'd hear on a Queen album especially on the songs "Hazel Eyes" and "Knockers". They are the kings of pumping out the power ballads. It is much like what you've heard from them in the past, but this time they've added more instruments to the mix like bagpipes. Justin Hawkins surely can hit those high notes.
