I have been writing poetry and fiction almost since I learned the alphabet.
My first major opus was a joint project with my best friend in 4th grade. We wrote a sequel to 101 Dalmatians and sent it to Walt Disney Studios. They accepted it and we became famous child prodigies, and. . . oops. There I go, writing fiction again.
Anyhow, although I was bitter at the rejection by Disney, I continued to pursue my calling (and I do consider it a calling -- something I simply cannot not do).
I have written eight nonfiction books for The Globe Pequot Press.
My first picture book -- One Wolf Howls -- was published by Sylvan Dell in 2009. Sylvan Dell published my second picture book -- Big Cat, Little Kitty -- in spring 2011. A third book in the "series" -- On the Move -- will be published in 2012.
In order to actually earn a living, I have worked as a technical editor, legal secretary, public relations specialist, and copyeditor (primarily for nursing textbooks).
I have two adult children, five grand-cats, and one grand-dog -- as well as my own five cats and wonderful husband (saved the best for last).
Eventually I hope to be famous and beloved by all. I think it's wise to have modest goals in life.
