5.0 out of 5 stars One Woman Man is simply mind blowing
I read this book quickly, and had to force myself to put it down at night so I could get some sleep. This book is awesome, awesome, awesome!!! I read this book quickly, and had to force myself to put it down at night so I could get some sleep. This book is awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Travis Hunter has this way of writing that makes you really feel the characters, you will like some, dislike others, and you may find yourself talking to the pages like I was. There are some parts of this book that have touches of humor that will make you laugh out loud.

The story centers around three siblings. Dallas the handsome single father getting over the heartbreak of losing the one woman he really loved. He is a teacher, and gives his students the utmost attention, and is revered in his community. When he decides to go back into the dating scene, one night of going out will turn into a life changing drama.

His sister Carmen is a physician married to a low life. Problem is she is not aware of the problems her husband is brining to their life, and her world will be turned upside down when some information about her husband comes to light. She will be forced to make one of the most difficult decisions in her life.

Priest is the oldest, and he is the bad seed of the family. He is a former cop who is now doing exactly the very thing he was locking other people for. Selling drugs. Even though Dallas and Carmen do not agree with Priest choices, he is the very person they will have to turn to when their life troubles come to light.

Kameka is one of the characters that had me talking to the pages. She is a 16 year old who is not getting the love and attention from her mother, and she is making some choices that will have you screaming "Kameka nooooooooo". I wanted to craw through the pages to slap Kameka's mother. She was just sorry, sorry, and more sorry. All she did was sleep. I had no idea why being she never did anything!!! She did not have a job, so why was she so tired? I guess waking up and getting out of bed every morning wore her out.

The way Bruce answered the phone "Who dis." No home training, none!!!!

"Once I reached into my pocket and stopped cheating Gawd, I went from a Hyndai to a Cadillac." After I read that all I could was laugh and shake my head. I've heard that before!!!

"Sassy stood a full seven feet two inches tall. He weighed three hundred and fifty pound and he was proud to be homosexual." I laughed too hard reading this description.

The book is so good I actually shed tears during one part. I cried real tears. When an author can make me react to the point I have to reach for tissue, then you have some good reading!!! It's not often I will cry reading a book.

I highly recommend this book and his other book Trouble Man. You will not be disappointed!! I thought I enjoyed Carl Weber and Marcus Major, but Travis Hunter is fast becoming my favorite male author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Wonderful, Splendid!!!, June 11, 2004
This review is from: A One Woman Man (Strivers Row) (Hardcover)
I read this book in 4 hours! I think this may be (because I'm still partial to the Hearts of Men) Mr. Hunter's finest work yet!
His books carry such positive messages. This one proves that things are not always as bad as they seem. Spread the word! We need more writers like Mr. Hunter! These book could easily be considered as inspirational fiction. If you haven't read them, you owe it to yourself to do it. (The Hearts of Men, Married but Still Looking, Trouble Man, and now One Woman Man) Wonderful books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great first pick..., December 12, 2004
This review is from: A One Woman Man (Strivers Row) (Hardcover)
For our new book club, we wanted our first book selection to set the right tone. We wanted to read about strong, positive black men that we all knew existed and Mr. Hunter's book did just that. He shows thru Dallas and other characters that good men do exist. The book brings the characters to life so much, that when it ends, you feel the need to know more. You feel as if these are friends in your life and you actually care what happens to them. Not only did the book bring out many points affecting our book club members every day life, but it opened up very deep personal discussions. This is my third novel that I've read written by Mr. Hunter and each one were just as good as the last.

What can I say? Travis Hunter has proved his worth once again with his newest release. I'm quick to admit that Mr. Hunter is quite possibly my favorite male fiction author, so I'm never surprised by my enjoyment of his work. But just when I thought I'd read his best writing in "Trouble Man", he introduces me to Dallas Dupree in "A One Woman Man". This story is captivating, well-written and it took me on the ride of my life. And then, just when I thought I had the story all figured out - a bomb was dropped that totally took me by surprise and brought the story full-circle. "A One Woman Man" is most definitely in the top five reads for me this year. This is Travis' best work....at least until next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars WELL DONE TRAVIS!, October 2, 2004
This review is from: A One Woman Man (Strivers Row) (Hardcover)
I have to admit this was my first experience with Mr.Hunter but after reading A One Woman Man, it won't be the last. I've already gone out to buy all of the others by Travis. Unlike most, Priest was my favorite character with "Baldhead" coming in at a close second. By the end of the book, I knew why. I won't give much away here but if you haven't already done so, go out and get this one!!
Are you still here???.....You should be on your way to the nearest book store.

Travis, Wow you are the man!! This book was so good I read it in one day and yes just like your other books I cried at the end. A note to the Reviewer's lets not tell the storyline and spoil it for the person who has yet to read the book, sometimes before purchasing a book I like to look at the reviews to see what others thought about it, I don't want to have to find that somebody has told the whole stoyline on a review! Gosh it's just a review not the editoral. Anyway Travis I am a fan for life you are so creative. Keep on doing you!!

One Woman Man
By Travis Hunter 5 stars

Dallas Dupree is a young good looking teacher trying to make a difference. He cares about his students and his family. When the love of his life Yasmin dies during child birth he is left to raise his daughter Aja alone.
Dallas is a one woman man, the problem is he can't find the right woman and when he meets the wrong woman he finds himself charged with rape. The reasons why are much deeper than a woman scorned. His buddy Genises Styles ( Married But Still Looking) pulls through sending his sister and staff to battle his legal issues.

Carmen Dallas's sister has her own issues, struggling with her weight and a new husband who isn't at all who he seems.

The oldest brother Priest is an ex cop turned dirty who makes alot of money.
Dallas and Carmen despise their older brother for his life style but when the chip are down Priest is the man they call.

Kameka is the young neice they never got to know after their brother Antoine's death. Kemeka is in trouble and needs her aunt and uncles.

This was an outstanding story of tragedy, survival and a family that knows hardship in the worst way yet they rise.
Hunter knows how to craft a remarkable story. His stories are real, enlightening and emotionally charged.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing, June 22, 2004
This review is from: A One Woman Man (Strivers Row) (Hardcover)
I was ecstatic when I found out Travis Hunter had a new book. Besides the title (which made me the target of many corny lines), I loved everything about this book. I don't know what it is but many male authors (not all!) have that skill to tell a love story without being cliche' or corny. (Omar Tyree and Ernest Hill are also good at that). This story told readers about the life of a drug lord, police officer, heavyset but mildly secure woman, a gambler, a teenage girl forced to grow up too fast, a crackhead, and a bunch of other characters that were so entertaining to the point of not being hard to keep up with. There was the right amount of humor, intelligence, REALISTIC dialogue (that's so underrated), and plot movement to make this a quick enjoyable read. When does the fifth novel come out?

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, June 22, 2004

This review is from: A One Woman Man (Strivers Row) (Hardcover)
In this tantalizing tale, Travis Hunter takes us on a journey into the lives of siblings Dallas, Carmen and Priest Dupree.

Dallas distraught over the death of his fiancé finds himself in meaningless relationships with women. When he gets involved with the wrong woman, he suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

Carmen a successful physician is happily married or so it seems. Her whole world is turned upside down when she receives some devastating news.

Priest the oldest of the three is very discreet about how he earns a living. Although they object to their brother's lifestyle, when problems arise, Dallas and Carmen depend on Priest to make everything all right.

Whenever I read a novel by the very talented Travis Hunter, I find myself so absorbed in the story that I cannot put the book down. I am patiently awaiting his next contribution to the literary community.

I just picked up this book on 6/19 from the Post Office and I started reading it at 10PM. Wel, folks it is 5:16AM on Sunday 6/20 I could not put the book down.
Travis lets you see the people and you become one with them. It had me laughing and crying. I can't wait for his next book.
I have read all of Travis's books and starting with the Hearts of Men I read that also in less than a day. Yes, I have a life and job, but I love to read good books.
And safe to say Travis has not let me down yet. Keep up the good work..
THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ALL MALES AND FEMALES...................
