This review is from: And One Wore Gray (Mass Market Paperback)
One Wore Blue starts with the beginning of the Civil War and is the Cameron family's view point of the war- it is especially concerned with the brother (Jesse Cameron) who feels that he must fight on the Union side of the war. (A great book!) And One Wore Gray is the 2nd story of Graham's Civil War trilogy about the Cameron Family- the reader now gets a glimpse of the war fought from the Confederate side. Daniel Cameron, brother to Jesse (the Union sergeon)is a Confederate Cavalier. The story picks up approximately half way through the war (where One Wore Blue stopped) when Daniel is wounded (for a second time) during a battle on a farmland in Maryland. Callie Michaelson is a widow of a Union solder that is living on family property alone, trying to hold things together until her brothers are able to return from the war. Daniel ends up at her home and even though Callie is a very strong Union supporter, she recognizes Daniel as being a human being in need of medical help, instead of looking at him strictly as her enemy. She takes him in to nurse him while he steals her heart. During his recover of a approximately a week they are able to forget the war and live a fantasy of what life might be like if only the war... But then Daniel must leave to return to his Confederate cause. Callie is caught- having to make the decision of letting Daniel escape and be killed by the Yankee soldiers that now know of his existance or call him back to be captured and possibly go to Yankee prison camp. Will Daniel ever forgive her? Will she be able to let him know that she loves him? And this all happens right about the beginning. It is a great story. I appreciated how Ms. Graham continued the story from one book to another. She ends the war with One Wore Gray. The ending is great! I cried. I also appreciated how she continued Jesse and Kiernan's love story through One Wore Gray. I highly recommend reading this- but try to read One Wore Blue first so you will get the whole picture. I am looking forward to getting And One Went West. It is about the sister of the Cameron Brothers.

I loved "One Wore Blue" so much and my hopes were high for the story of Jesse's brother, Daniel Cameron. This book grabbed me from the very first pages. The story of the Confederate soldier in love with the Yankee lady may seem to be cliche, but Heather Graham does it with such emotion, such passion, such depth that it seems like a brand new story. As with the story of Jesse and Kiernan, Daniel and Callie's story is rife with emotional turmoil. The characters are easy to fall in love with and you find yourself aching for them to find their way to each other. I get quite frustrated with the stories that have the hero and heroine endlessly fighting and bickering, but with Heather Graham (especially this particular trilogy), the tension is always deeper than selfishness, or the lead characters merely being irritated by each other. When Callie goes running after Daniel right before he is captured, you hold your breath wanting desperately for them to be able to avoid the pain you see coming. When Daniel thinks that Callie has betrayed him, your heart breaks knowing what a horrible misunderstanding has occurred and you are right there with them in the midst of their pain and longing for each other.
This book not only lived up to my high expectations, it surpassed them. This is a MUST READ, as is its predecessor.

What a romance!!,

This review is from: And One Wore Gray (Mass Market Paperback)
This story takes place in the 1800's during the civil war. Callie finds an enemy soldier dying on her front lawn and can't bare to just leave him to die. She takes Daniel in and nurses him back to health. They fall in love very fast but Callie is forced to betray Daniel to save his life. He hates her for it and swears to return for her one day...for revenge. When they meet again will there firey romance rekindle or will hatred take over?
I LOVED this book! It is only the second romance I have read and I have to admit that I am an addict now! You can just feel Daniel and Callie's love for eachother! I have to say though, the war parts were boring to me. I found my self speed reading through the parts where Daniel was fighting in the war. I just wanted to get back to reading about him and Callie together. The book didn't grab my attention at first but I am so glad I stuck with it because it really does grab it eventually and leaves you not able to put it down! A must read if you enjoy reading about passionate romances.

Enthralling 2nd in the Cameron Saga Civil War trilogy!,

This is the second in the Cameron Saga Civil War trilogy (and follows the Cameron stories told in Graham's North American Women trilogy). I highly recommend the whole Cameron Saga--all 6 books. They are rich in history, well-told romances with amazing detail, seamless dialog and a family of wonderful men and women you will love.
This is Daniel Cameron's story and begins in 1863 as a young Yankee widow in Sharpsburg, Maryland, Callie Michaelson, looks out on a field of battle--her front lawn--to see dead and dying boys in blue and gray. And she remembers the officer in gray she met a year before...Daniel, the father of her 2-month old baby. The story then unfolds through Callie's flashback. Daniel and Callie fell in love the first time they met and came together in great passion in the midst of war, she a Yankee and he a Confederate officer. When he is captured by the Yankees and sent to their prison, he blames Callie for betraying him. He escapes prison to return to his regiment and it takes him a year to get back to Sharpsburg. There is little trust between Daniel and Callie, even when he finds out she has given him a son. Neither will admit they still are very much in love. Like "One Wore Blue," you will laugh and you will cry, as you become a part of the war that tore apart a nation and tore apart families...a time that shaped our nation. Graham has done a superb job of bringing that history to life while continuing the generational saga of the wonderful Cameron men. She has produced a series of keepers--all 5 star romances! I highly recommend them. Here's the whole Cameron Saga: The North American Women trilogy: -Sweet Savage Eden (England and the first settlers in Virginia) -A Pirate's Pleasure (the pirates of the Caribbean and Virginia) -Love Not a Rebel (the Revolutionary War...and Virginia) The Cameron Civil War trilogy: -One Wore Blue -And One Wore Gray -And One Rode West

I have to admit that this was my favorite one out of the series. The story of Daniel and Callie was well written. It gave more information about the Southern point of view during the Civil War. I've read this book many times and never get tired of it.

The Cameron Family saga continues. Jesses brother Daniel gets to tell his story in this touching romance. Daniel wears the butternut and gray and is prepared to die for the cause. He meets Northern Callie Michaelson who nurese Daniel after a battle that was fought near her house. Despite there differences regarding the conflict love blooms anyway. Jesses and Kiernan are also part of this story. The Civil War was a difficult conflict in our history Heather Graham does it justice. A must read for any Heather Graham fan.

Fabulous romance and ACCURATE history,

So much Civil War fiction is BAD Civil War fiction. People who buy Civ War to read Civ War will catch mistakes in a moment; and Heather Graham just doesn't make them. She knows the period and uses it as a backdrop for fabulous romances. The only mistake is in the artwork - Daniel Cameron is wearing captain's insignia instead of a colonel's three stars on his uniform. The romance is heartbreaking and humorous by turn; two people from opposite philosophies on the war fall in love and must find their peace amid a desperate struggle. Highly recommend!

More than anything else in this Civil War trilogy, you come away Satisfied. It is a wonderful Romance. You not only fall in love with Daniel and Callie, but you respect and admire the Cameron family and their love and devotion for each other. You know that the brothers Daniel and Jesse would do anything ...even die for the other. I could see in my minds eye everything that they went through. My heart broke, then rejoiced, I was mad, then elated! Ms. Graham has given us a book that is a pleasure to read. I looked forward to the romance, and the battles. What wonderful heros and heroines.

This review is from: And One Wore Gray (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second book in a trilogy based upon the Cameron family of Virginia. In book one, oldest son Jesse Cameron defied his family and chose to stay with the Union army, despite his love for southern belle Kiernan Miller. And One Wore Gray is the story of younger brother Daniel Cameron, whose wears the gray uniform of the Confederate army. After loosing a bitter battle in Maryland, the Confederate soldiers flees for their lives and a grievously wounded Daniel finds himself at the doorstep of widow Callie Michaelson. This being a romance novel and all, you know our pair fall into twu wuv and bed, but there's this bad Yankee fellow who lusts after Callie and he's tricks her into betraying Daniel and he's whisked off to a Yankee jail. Believing Callie is the one who sent him there, Daniel loathes Callie with a passion and dreams for the day he can escape, return to Maryland and get his revenge.*Yawn* Sorry, as much fun as the first book was, this was a bit of a dud. I really didn't warm up much to either character - Daniel was too much on the alpha-super-hero side of things, and his ability to lick 20 Yankees with the flick of his wrist wore thin very very fast. Callie's solid Yankee cause to the death attitude wore thin after a while - seriously, if these two would have just talked things out the damned Big Misunderstanding would have been resolved lickety split. Not great, but not bad either. I do intend to finish off the series with And One Rode West, which I believe will be the story of the younger Cameron sister.

This was a much more interesting story. Better characters. Romance was emotionally up and down. Daniel was a little immature. A lot of history which was interesting at times. I did skim through a lot by the end. I'll try to read the next one but all in all this has not been a series I would recommend to spend money on.
