This review is from: One World: The Health and Survival of the Human Species in the 21st Century (Hardcover)
Coming from someone who is interested in public health, but not in the field, "One World" offers an awakening perspective from global leaders. Jimmy Carter offers his action-oriented suggestions, and the diverse contributors' (from Mann to Salk to Sagan) examinations of health, disease, and a world view are a beneficial read for many audiences.

Much remains to to be done to improve the health and well-being of humanity, not only by further advancement of medicine and science but even more so by promoting growing awareness of the problems and their possible solution among society at large and policy makers in particular and by overcoming apathy, prejudice and superstitition, which stand in the by of reaching this goal. The contributors in this book work in Aistralia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States, among other countries. By cooperating in this way, they may insipre others to take a world view of the health of humanity.
