From Booklist

When Nina Christie, who already has some psi powers, is injected with the A-dose of a super psi-enhancer drug by her dying friend, Helga, she becomes involved in a corrupt politician’s scheme to get that drug and its corresponding B-dose for himself, making for McKenna’s convoluted, action-filled plot. Nina winds up being rescued and eventually saved by Alex Aaro, a security consultant with a highly shielded psi talent himself, whose powers expand as his relationship with her deepens. They are pursued by the politician’s heavies, one of whom includes Aaro’s estranged brother, and by Annabel, an evil psi who uses her talents to probe others’ minds against their will to secure intelligence. Ultimately, all the bad guys get theirs, and Aaro is reunited with Nina after being shot and finally extricating himself from his rotten family (explained in a subplot). Part thriller, part paranormal tale, and part sensual romance, McKenna’s tale offers lots of explicit sex described with lots of gratuitous dirty words. --Mary K. Chelton

More About the Author

Shannon McKenna is the NYT bestselling author of over ten action packed, turbocharged romantic thrillers, among which are the stories of the wildly popular McCloud series. She loves tough and heroic alpha males, heroines with the brains and guts to match them, villains who challenge them to their utmost, adventure, scorching sensuality, and most of all, the redemptive power of true love. Since she was small she has loved abandoning herself to the magic of a good book, and her fond childhood fantasy was that writing would be just like that, but with the added benefit of being able to take credit for the story at the end. Alas, the alchemy of writing turned out to be messier than she'd ever dreamed. But what the hell, she loves it anyway, and hopes that readers enjoy the results of her alchemical experiments. She loves to hear from her readers. Contact her at her website,, or join the newsletter by signing up at

I'm tired of the mind control/mad science baddies SM has going on. Osterman, King, and now this bunch. Hoping to find a different sort of bad guy here, I was so frustrated when I started this book. I really had to concentrate on the two main characters in order to enjoy this book. Once I got the hero and heroine together in Ch. 6, the story picked up for me. By Ch. 13, I was definitely feeling more sexual tension and chemistry, and I was finally reading with a smile on my face. The character interaction in that chapter was pretty awesome. Then, Ch. 14... Why does sex make everything better? The sex was really hot and gritty with this bad boy. Aaro really makes this story for me.

As one of the McCloud Crowd, Alex Aaro's been called in by Bruno and Lily (Blood and Fire, the previous book) to help Lily's bff, Nina, who's been jabbed by a needle-wielding woman spewing garbled messages and dire warnings about the mystery substance Nina's been injected with and the people who control the drug and want to keep its power secret. I know, stick with it; it gets more complicated and over the top. Soon, Nina and Aaro are on the run with mind-controlling baddies after them.

It was convoluted. Not only baddies with guns, but these guys can reach into the mind and mentally crush you with a thought. That took some getting used to. I really wanted just your average, garden-variety baddie here. You know, just someone mean and naturally crazy and not necessarily hopped up on the crazy juice and wanting to rule the world through compulsion and mind control. Is that so much to ask for? I have to say that SM managed to keep all that together, somehow, even with baddies running here and there.

This book deserved a "0". What a stupid, ridiculous, awful plot.— Depressing, drab, senseless.. - Not a Romance!! A real waste of money and my eye sight. (The McCloud name never should have been mentioned in this book) McKenna is now definitely off my list !!

Man, I'm so happy I had the chance to read this book. It's everything I was looking for in the book. One Wrong Move is the first book I've read from Shannon McKenna but it definitely won't be the last!

The connection between Alex and Nina is immediate. But both are too stubborn to see past their need to hold barriers. Alex has some serious dark secrets not to mention a dark past. But so does Nina. In a way they're perfect for each other. She doesn't put up with Alex's crazy mood swings and he makes her feel wanted and beautiful. I really liked the banter between the two of them; they hardly knew each other but seemed to know all the right (and wrong) buttons to push. Once you get about halfway into the book, sex is constant. But then again, if I only had three days to live and was stuck with Alex's sexy ass I would probably be doing the same thing.

One Wrong Move has a fast paced story line but it feels like more then a few days have gone by. I guess it can make it a little hard to believe Alex and Nina fell in love so quickly but I get so sucked up in the story that I didn't even question it. And normally I'm not a fan of the whole "falling in love the first day you meet someone" thing but it worked with this story.

Action was basically nonstop. And I loved every minute of it. But I'll admit some of the killing scenes really grossed me out. Shannon McKenna is not afraid to let her characters get really beaten up and tortured. I felt like I was on edge the whole time, worried that they wouldn't get the antidote in time. I really wanted that HEA for them.

Even though you don't need to read the other books in the series to read this one, I kind of wish I had. Only because I want to know more about the other characters in the book like Lily and Bruno.

I was very disappointed in SM's last two releases and am happy to report that this was a big improvement. For me, the last 2 lacked a real connection between the main characters, there were too many recycled scenes and language from previous works, and the zombie and bad guy plots were overdone.

Here, despite how quickly the relationship progresses, I really enjoyed the spark between Alex and Nina. I don't care that it was unrealistic how much Alex changed, I found it compelling and romantic. Within the first few pages I was afraid that the book was doomed with a ditzy, self-doubting main female character (in the first scene she berating herself internally). Fortunately, she wasn't a simpering mess who giggles too much (though I personally find it annoying how much SM's female characters are described as giggling, especially in sex scenes).

I've come to the point with SM's bad guy scenes where I barely skim them. She's using the same ridiculous formula and I don't find it interesting.

What I loved most about this book was Alex's inability to detach from Nina and how hard and quickly he fell for her. I felt the intensity and undeniable connection between the characters. Great sex scenes, too. This book exceeded my expectations and was a good read.
