5.0 out of 5 stars Reader Friendly Bible, January 12, 2000
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
This is an incredible version of the Bible, the world's best selling book. It will help you to know God better; if you are a Christian. It will help non-Christians understand the Bible, because it is formatted into sections of the Old and New Testaments, Psalms and Proverbs. It also is in today's language, so understanding is simpler than other versions of the Bible. A good book to read every day for devotions and daily inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever!, May 25, 2001
By

This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
The format made it enjoyable to read through the bible daily. It is the first time I have read it cover to cover because I just could not get past some of the harder to read old testament books. While I knew much of the new testament by heart, there was so much bible knowledge I lacked. I have been so blessed by this book. It has changed my daily walk with God. The NLT version was easy to understand and I felt it spoke to us in this age. I often referred back to other translations and found it to be an accurate account in it's meaning. I have given this bible to a couple of my friends and they are enjoying their experience. I have also recommended it to many of my friends. I highly recommed it for anyone who has a desire to read the bible cover to cover. Especially those who have failed in the past with a traditional bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to get through the Bible, a little at a time!, March 9, 2000
By

(VINE VOICE)
Three years ago, my daughter and I decided to read the Bible in one year. It was the first time all the way through for both of us. My daughter had the One Year Bible (NLT) in hardcover which we had given her for Christmas. And I had found this plan printed up in Brio magazine, so I just read the same passages in my study bible.

This year our church's pastor challenged us to consider using The One Year Bible to get through it in one year. I decided to do it again and this time I am using the One Year Bible/NLT and my husband is using One Year Bible/NIV.

I feel that the format keeps things interesting. A passage from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, something from Psalms and a snippet of Proverbs each day. I am finding even more stuff that I missed the first time around! Amazing how the Bible is really "alive" and when you read it at different stages of your life, different passages impact you that you might not have noticed the time before.

Rather than flipping around in the Bible, this book has the 365 daily readings nicely laid out for you. However, the only downside to this is sometimes you might not really be keeping track of what book of the Bible you're reading! That's very easy to do, especially with the short books both in the Old and New Testament.

Another nice feature of this Bible is that for each day's selections, a passage is in bold type -something to pay special attention to.

This method is great for someone who wants to read the Bible through, but doesn't want to go from Genesis to Revelation. Reading Mark's gospel really makes it easier to get through Leviticus!

I'd highly recommend buying "The One Year Bible Companion". The subtitle is "Questions and answers to help you make the most of your daily Bible reading". There are 4 questions and answers per daily reading. Also, the Companion lists the passages to be read for the day at the top, so you could read in this order but with your own Bible. The questions help illuminate some of the somtimes confusing OT passages. The Companion also has brief introductions for all the books of the Bible.

A bonus about "The One Year Bible Companion" - the cover is a very durable plastic-like cover. It's very durable and flexible. Just another added feature. And of course, it's available from Amazon! That's where I got mine! :-)

Happy Bible Study, everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Bible for you!, January 25, 2001
By
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
This Bible has changed my life! I have tried on numerous occasions to read the Bible through and I always end up getting mired down in all the geneologies and laws that I end up quitting somewhere around Exodus! I saw an advertisement for this Bible in a magazine and went right down to my local bookstore and bought it. I haven't put it down since! The New Living Translation is so user-friendly that even a child can understand it! Each day's reading is dated but if you're like me, once you start reading this Bible, you'll end up reading 4 or 5 passages a day instead of just one! This Bible is a must for anyone who has ever wanted to read the Bible through. Trust me, there is a way and The One Year Bible is it!

5.0 out of 5 stars practical, organized and easy to understand, September 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
I've really enjoyed reading The One Year Bible. Each day is laid out specifically for the reader, with the Old Testament and New Testament readings, so that one doesn't have to search what the Scriptures are for the day. The reader just turns right to today's date and begins reading. The translation is current and easy to understand compared to some other translations out there. I would recommend this Bible for anyone who has gotten out of the habit of daily reading or who doesn't understand their current translation.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best translation! I love it!, August 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
Forget the NIV translation with its clunky English. This is the one to get. The NLT version reads as easily and SMOOTHLY as a magazine article and is 100% accurate. You WILL understand this version. You may find yourself reading much more daily than you had planned to! Before I found this, I was using a 12 page (!) Bible reading plan chart, bookmarks, and index tabs to do my daily Bible reading. Now, all I do is flip open to today's date and there is a selection from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and a verse or two from Proverbs. You get a complete spiritual reading meal all on 4-5 pages. I bought two: one hardcover for home and one paperback version for my office in case I am stuck there late (I do my study after dinner). Get this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Universally Appealing Author, September 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
Most American households have bibles yet they go unread. This bible brought God's word from the bookshelf to my heart. The daily arrangement is easily digested and balanced with new and old testament readings. The New Living Translation is wonderful because the message is in plaion English!

This is a great way to read and learn the bible. It breaks up the books perfectly, giving you a little of the Old Test., New Test., Psalms and Proverbs. If you've always heard that God speaks through His Word but never understood it, get this book and read it daily - you'll be amazed!

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Favorite Book, July 20, 2002
By
Patt Marr (East Moline, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
The Bible isn't new to me, not at all. But this version is just a delight. Yesterday I discovered I love the last two chapters of I Chronicles. Go figure! Unless you're reading the Word systematically, you sure wouldn't expect that. This is such an easy-to-read, user-friendly blessing, that I've bought more copies for friends and family. After a few quick pages of the Old Testament, you get a page or two of the New Testament, then one psalm, and a couple of verses of Proverbs. Before I'm through, I feel that sweet connection with the Holy Spirit. How good is that? It's about as good as it gets!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book., March 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The One Year Bible NLT (New Living Translation) (Paperback)
I was looking for a copy of the Bible that was simple to read. This practical book definitely delivers with its good print and modern English translation. It makes you really appreciate the meaning behind the words. It is so well-written that it reads as fast as a bestseller novel by John Grisham. Worth getting for other people.
