5.0 out of 5 stars Now this makes sense! Finally someone made a easy to read & understand translation!
This is great to have a translation that doesn't skip all around. This makes the Bible so much easier to read & understand. I'm not a beginner but wanted a Bible told in chronological order just for a different perspective. I've even picked up on things that I didn't in my regular Living Bible. It gives a fresh feel to it so maybe I was paying better attention & got more...

3.0 out of 5 stars Have seen better
I got this chronological Bible because it is the New Living Translation, which I like. It does not include any insights or guides. I have a daily chronological bible that is NIV, which translation I don't like as much, but it's good. It has some really good comments and explanations which this one does not. Also, this one is redundant, in that if more than one book...

This is great to have a translation that doesn't skip all around. This makes the Bible so much easier to read & understand. I'm not a beginner but wanted a Bible told in chronological order just for a different perspective. I've even picked up on things that I didn't in my regular Living Bible. It gives a fresh feel to it so maybe I was paying better attention & got more understanding. This Bible would be a great choice for anyone and especially for beginners because of the NLT, which uses our everyday language. If you've never read a Bible with a New Living Translation, it will SO OPEN up the Bible to you. If you get the meaning, then God's word will start to truly work in your life like never before! I never understood the King James Version & the stories meant very little to me because I felt like I could not relate. I had heard the same stories for years growing up & in & out of church but I didn't understand God's word & it wasn't effective until I bought a Living Bible translation & finally got true understanding of his word. The NLT is the newest translation after the Living Bible translation. Also, I like the size of the Bible, not too big & heavy but not too small either. The font size is perfect, no squinting or holding it closer to read. Great choice in a Bible!

4.0 out of 5 stars I love seeing how everything falls into place, in chronological order!, October 9, 2008

Our church started reading the Chronological Bible at the beginning of this year, and we decided to order this copy in the New Living Translation rather than buying the New International Version the church was offering. First of all, let me say that this is an excellent resource, and a superb translation! We love the NLT because of it's easy-to-read, easy-to-understand wording. We also like how this Bible orders everything. There are differences in opinion as to the chronology of biblical events and writings, and we like the way this particular version does it.

One word of warning: the chronology in this Bible is VERY different from the One Year Chronological Bible in the NIV. We ended up not being able to use it for the majority of the year because it was totally different than what our church was doing. This was very aggravating because I expected, since it was still the One Year Chronological Bible, that the order if everything would be the same, no matter what translation it was. Not so. I'm not sure why that was, but just know that if you're looking to read along with someone that has a different translation of this same Bible. The readings will be totally different. We plan to read through this again sometime, and use this Bible in its entirety.

I have owned several bibles in the past, but this is the last one I will ever own. It is an easy to read format and a very easy logical chain of events in stead of the normal division of the events. This book is a story and a historical account and should be read in this way. Glad i bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The One Year Chronological Bible NLT, January 19, 2009
I began reading this Bible on January 2 (the day I received it) and I am enjoying it despite original misgivings about the translation and about being able to find specific passages. On the contrary, I love this translation for ease of understanding and I am able to find any passage I want using the index in the back. It is easy to read and makes the stories really come alive. I am looking forward to reading the stories of the kings and the corresponding prophets in chronological order unlike the way they are told in my devotional Bible. Also Jesus' life and Paul's missionary journeys. I would recommend this Bible to anyone as an accompaniment to their other Bible study materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must way to read the Bible, November 25, 2007
By

This is a great way to read and comprehend the Bible. This Bible layout REALLY helps the reader understand the historical context of the Bible -- especially in the Old Testament -- much better than the traditional layout. Plus, it helps for speedier reading, as it groups similar passages together (such as 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles; the synoptic gospels). Also, the New Living Translation is a translation that's excellent for American English language speakers and learners (much easier to read and recite than the sometimes difficult, uncommon grammar, sentence-structure and words of the New International Version). All people serious about learning the Bible, the history of God's revelation and the movement of His people, should get this item!

The translation reads well, and it is refreshing if it is not your normal study Bible. Best of all, the daily structure is a wonderful support for building discipline.

5.0 out of 5 stars The One Year Chronological Bible NLT, January 23, 2008

This bible is so awesome. It's so much easier to understand when it's in chronological order and this version is a very easy read. It is very easy to keep up daily reading---even when I miss a day, it's easy to catch up. I would suggest this bible for the seasoned bible-reading veteran to the first-timer. God Bless.

4.0 out of 5 stars very informative, March 4, 2009
This one year chron bible is so nice to read. To read it as the events actual happend in the time span is so great. Now you know who Abraham son were and who their sons were - It stays in your memory so much better than when I studied the bible as a child in Sunday School. Even now as I am older - I read the bible every morning and evening, but this bible seems to make it more like a very good story that I seem to have is easy to rememer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to understand God's word., January 27, 2009
By
The chronological NLT has been very helpful in understanding the whole of God's word. It is so easy to read and understand when presented in the format of when things happened. Each daily reading is so short that it is hard not to want to read ahead. Have given a copy to each of our married children for Christmas, and I know they are reading. The individuals in our small Bible study group are also participating in reading the Chronological New Living Translation, and discussing what we have read each week.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD True Chronological Bible but w/o dates on margins, November 22, 2011
SUMMARY OF CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER IN THIS BIBLE:
- Genesis is same as normal bible except 3 sections of verses are moved into Chrono order. Genesis is interlaced 11 times with verses from 1 Chronicles
- Job follows in complete order - just like a normal bible
- Exodus follows in complete order just like a normal bible, but is interlaced 1 time with a 1 Chronicles verse
- A few verses from the middle of Numbers follows: parts of Num 9, 7, 8
- Leviticus follows in complete order just like a normal bible
- Numbers follows from the beginning of Numbers 1 to the end, except parts of Num 7, 8, 9 are missing because these were moved to the place prior to Leviticus (see above)
- Deuteronomy follows in complete order just like a normal bible, except Psalm 90 is inserted before Deut 33
- Joshua follows in complete order just like a normal bible, with 1 insert of 1 Chronicles
- Judges follows in complete order just like a normal bible
- Ruth follows in complete order just like a normal bible
- 1 Chronicles, 1 Samuel, Psalm 59, 34, 57, 142, 52, 54, 56 all follow interlaced
- 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, Psalm 60, 51, 3, 63, 7, 18 all follow interlaced
- 1 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Samuel all follow interlaced
- The rest of the Psalms are listed here because the dates of them are unknown
- 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, 1 Kings all follow interlaced
- Psalm 72, 172
- Proverbs follows, mostly in order, but some sections moved to a later Chrono time (near Isaiah)
- Song of Songs follows in complete order just like a normal bible
- 1 Kings, 2 Chronicles follow interlaced
- Ecclesiastes follows in complete order just like a normal bible
- 1 Kings, 2 Chronicles follow interlaced
- 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles follow interlaced
- Jonah
- Amos
- 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles
- Isaiah 6:1-13
- 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles
- Micah 1:1-16
- 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles
- Parts of Isaiah follow
- 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles
- Hosea
- Isaiah
- 2 Kings parts follow
- Isaiah, 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles follow interlaced
- More Proverbs and Psalms inserted next
..... And so on.... you get the point
- Gospels are broken up into Chronological order, so you will read about all 4 similar accounts of each event one after the other
- Acts and Paul's writings are also interlaced so that you can see when and where Paul when related to the events of the End Times

- Bible is ACTUALLY IN the author's determined Chronological Order (Read the following carefully to notice the order): Gen 1:1-5:32, 1 Chr 1:1-4, Gen 6:1-10:5, 1 Chr 1:5-7, Gen 10:6-20, 1 Chr 1:8-16, Gen 10:21-30, 1 Chr 1:17-23, Gen 10:31-11:26, 1 Chr 1:24-27, Gen 11:27-23:20, Gen 11:32, Gen 24:1-25:4, 1 Chr 1:32-33, Gen 25:5-6, 12-18, 1 Chr 1:28-31, 34, Gen 25:19-26, 7-11, 27-36:19....

*** Notice above that the order of Genesis itself is reorganized chronologically. Example (from above): Gen 11:32 moved between Gen 11:27-23:20 and Gen 24:1-25:4.

- Bible is broken into dates: Jan 1, Jan 2, April 10, etc... in a reading plan order from the OT through the NT. So you won't get to the NT until Sept 24th.
- NLT translation is one of the easiest translations to read but paraphrases and assumptions in translating make it less accurate/trustworthy. But if you are a new believer or the NIV is too difficult for you to read, by all means, get this one. It is still a fairly decent translation and does teach the same basics of the gospel. I do feel NIV is a bit more accurate and still quite readable translation.
- Thick paperback version with tight binding, so laying it out on a table, you must push down and flatten at seems to read the words along the binding
- No commentary, just straight Bible
- Font is large enough to read easily - larger then most bibles. Perhaps 12 point?
