5.0 out of 5 stars If I didn't take a multi-vitamin, I'd be dead
My review title is a joke between one of my sisters and I because I eat junk food a lot and am well-known for ordering chicken strips at *any* restaurant I go to. Fresh fruits and vegetables are not a part of my diet at all (on more than one occasion I've had Doritos for dinner). I didn't start taking the One-A-Day Women's multivitamin until about 18 months ago. One of...

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD VITAMIN TO TAKE BUT MAKES ME SICK!
These vitamins are good, they have changed my hair and nails for the better. I also have noticed a big difference in my energy level and menstral cycle. The only thing I dont like is that I absolutely have to take this on a completely FULL stomach. I would never be dumb enough to take on an empty stomach, but even when I take after a small meal I will feel sick. Its...

One of my sisters and I were talking about how thin & brittle our nails were, and how thick our other sister's nails were, and we made the connection that our other sister took a multivitamin, while we did not. So I started taking One-A-Day, and within the month, I could see a thicker ridge of nail growing out. It was so weird, and yet so disconcerting to think my thin nails were caused by a vitamin deficiency. Even now, when I go for a bit without the vitamin, thinner nail will grow out until I remember to start taking the One-A-Day again. If my vitamin deficiency caused thin nails, what was it doing to the rest of my body?

One-A-Day Women's is a well-rounded vitamin. My only problem is that I have to take multivitamins on a full stomach otherwise they'll cause an upset stomach, so much that I will toss my cookies. I mean, I have to have a really full stomach... if I'm really hungry and just eat a bagel or a bowl of cereal, and then take this vitamin, I will get nauseous and have to rest my head on my desk and take deep breaths for 15 minutes until the feeling passes - so I try to take my vitamin after having a big plate of waffles or a bacon cheeseburger (see? I told you my eating habits weren't the best). This happens with any multivitamin for me, not just One-A-Day, but it's something to keep in mind when taking a multivitamin for the first time, you probably don't want to take it with an empty stomach.

*Update* I'm still taking the Women's One-A-Day, and a few months ago I suggested to my husband that he should start taking the Men's One-A-Day. He too has the same "thicker nail growing out" bonus from taking the Men's One-A-Day.

3.0 out of 5 stars GOOD VITAMIN TO TAKE BUT MAKES ME SICK!, March 28, 2010
This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
Its crucial I eat a big full-filling meal first. I have experienced nausea so bad that Ive actually thrown up after taking this. I have even gotten diarrhea before because i took this with only a small breakfast. Very important how you take it. Other than that my only concern is why in the world would anyone pay $30 for these vitamins online?? You can get them at the grocery store for like $6 bucks! Just something to think about...

5.0 out of 5 stars all women should take one a day!, October 6, 2007
This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
I heard about this vitamin from my mom who has been taking it. I have been experiencing lots of exhaustion and worsening pms in the recent few years (I am in my mid twenties). My mom told me she has a lot of energy since she has take this vitamin and urges me to try it. I have been taking the vitamins for about a month now and really feel the difference (I don't know if it's the vitamin or just a psychological effect). My pms symptoms also got noticeably better this month without the usual exhaustion, frustration and bloated feeling 1-2 weeks before hand. This is my personal experience, and I am hoping it will last!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Vitamin, August 3, 2010

I've been taking multi-vitamins religiously for a few years now. I switched to this brand since it's one of the brands that was tested by the FDA for lead levels and also was involved in the Consumer Lab tests. My other brand wasn't and I would prefer to know what I am actually consuming.
Only thing I take in addition to this is 250mg magnesium since I get horrendous debilitating menstrual cramps and that is supposed to help (although I don't know if it actually is). That puts my total magnesium at 300, which the upper limit is 350 so I'm still safe. Just something to think about if you have problems with cramps. The description mentions how this vitamin can help with reproductive health so just thought I would throw that tidbit in there.
I don't know what the supposed stomach issues are about in the other reviews, I take this with dinner and have no problems. I've never had a problem with any multivitamin as long as I took it with food. Size is not bad, I just take it with a big gulp of water and try not to think of it as a big vitamin but as a bunch of food I just chewed up.
Overall I feel fine and I have no major issues with this vitamin, so five stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars No problems at all (doesn't make me sick!), May 22, 2010
This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
I've been taking this particular One-A-Day since early this year as recommended by my doctor (after I hit "50") and have had no problems at all. I never take any vitamins or supplements without first eating something (not necessarily a full meal either, just something light like homemade yogurt or a granola bar) and I have not experienced any nausea or ill feelings at all.

I have to wonder if those that have reported experiencing problems with this supplement may also be experiencing similar problems with other supplements(?) For those experiencing stomach problems, they might want to look into probiotics. I started taking probiotics two years ago and only take them twice a year for about a month each time. Since then I haven't experienced any acid reflux or heartburn like I used to get occasionally. I found out about probiotics from a book I bought on Amazon.com "The HOPE Formula: The Ultimate Health Secret by Brenda Watson".

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty okay, October 10, 2011
This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
I started taking these because I was concerned about the amount of vitamins I take in daily, and the main reason why I'm giving this multivitamin 4 stars is because of the size of the things. When I first opened up the package I made a joke about horse pills (they're pretty big). I actually started breaking them in half (which works way better), but even then I still kind of have to choke them down because if they don't go all the way immediately, the aftertaste left on my breath triggers my gag reflex.

Honestly, I've never experienced nausea after I've gotten them down, and I take them in the morning and usually have minimal breakfasts. I always take them with a glass of chocolate milk (regular 2% milk mixed with chocolate syrup-I can't have regular milk without a muffin or cookie, so chocolate milk is the next best thing when I don't want to eat a bunch of not-so-healthy things), and occasionally I'll have a single egg with it, and that's it. If these did make me nauseous, I would toss them in an instant. I would never take these with water; I would toss my cookies before it even got near my esophagus.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, September 13, 2011
This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
I bought these for my college aged daughter but she gave them back because they made her throw up several times. I didn't believe the vitamins had caused the sickness so I started taking them myself. The first couple of days were fine and I didn't think any more about it but then I started feeling intense nausea in the mornings. I read these reviews and found others had had the same problem. Luckily the sensation passes off in 10 minutes or so but I have never experienced this with vitamins before and wonder what they put in them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tough on the Tummy, July 29, 2011
This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
You absolutely have to take this vitamin on a full stomach. Often times my breakfast would finish digesting before my vitamin and I would feel nauseous until I ate again. I took this vitamin on an empty stomach once and was sick 10 minutes later. Now I take Rainbow Light's Prenatal One. I find that the prenatal vitamins have tons of good stuff for you even if you aren't pregnant, and they make an effort to make it gentle on your stomach since many women have morning sickness.

3.0 out of 5 stars Energy Drinks, Vitamins, Nausea-Oh My!, April 30, 2011

This review is from: One a Day women's multi vitamin 250 tablets (Health and Beauty)
I don't have any health problems.
I drink Rockstar, Monsters, Redbull with no problem.
I also can take vitamin B (in any form) without hesitation or fear of too much energy.
I don't eat a lot of junk food.
I drink coffee.
It takes a lot to make me throw up or nauseous.
But....

This pill makes me want to barf. I feel sick on it. I can't eat anything. If I were a person without an iron stomach (as you can see from what I usually consume), I believe that I would have thrown up by now.

Why, Why! Do I keep taking it?
It helps me concentrate and I certainly don't feel hungry when I feel like barfing.
So I guess it does what it says!
