I am new to testing my blood glucose and I have no experience by which to comment regarding the accuracy of the meter as another reviewer has done.
Nonetheless, as I am an avid needle-hater (I can't even watch when I am recieving an injection or having blood drawn from a vein), I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised with the lancet device that accompanies this meter. It is so easy to use and it is virtually painless when used on the side of the finger (I haven't tried anywhere else). It took me 3-4 times before I was able to consistently apply the sample to the strip but that was my problem and it had nothing to do with the meter, strip, or lancet. I thought I would loathe checking my blood glucose but I don't. I actually look forward to testing to see if I am keeping my numbers in check. For this reason, I feel that I will be much more attentive to my health maintenance. Another nice feature: You can upload the data from your meter after you have downloaded the manufacturer's free software, but you must purchase an extra cable to do so. (I do not know if you can purchase a generic cable for this purpose, but the meter manufacturer's current price is $30). I have not attempted to use the software yet but I am glad to know that I can keep track of my data beyond 30 days if I wish. I hope this information helps you to make your choice.
