Entirely adequate, December 8, 2010
This review is from: Oneida 14-Piece Triple Rivet Classic Knife Set with Block (Kitchen)
OK, nobody else wants to step up and do a decent review so here goes:
We, perversely, bought a set of Oneida knives through a Safeway weekly coupon sale...and likely paid somewhat more that the $60 price currently advertised here. We've probably been using our set for at least 5 years now. (Safeway still sells individual knives in their kitchenware section).
The knives are solid and well balanced. I don't know what the handles are made from, but they are dense and the triple riveting is very secure.
The blades are stainless, reasonably thick and not at all flimsy or wobbly. We often wipe them clean, but sometimes they do go through the dishwasher. It hasn't seemed to harm them. There is the occasional waterspot, but honestly, the blades are in very good shape. The steak knives *always* go through the dishwasher and they aren't any worse for the wear than the rest of the blades.
I dabble in sharpening my own knives. These blades take and hold an edge. I was slicing tomatoes just last night, and while the blade wasn't razor sharp, it was very sharp. And it hadn't been sharpened for at least a year. I don't honestly remember how sharp they were out of the box, but I didn't have any complaints at the time.
I don't own Henckels so I can't really compare, but I do appreciate a sharp blade. So I'm judging that this is an inexpensive, but not "cheap" set of knives that you'll be very satisfied to own and to hold.

Great set of knives that last!, April 21, 2011

I've been using these knives for almost 3 years now. I sharpen them regularly maybe once a month using the
Wüsthof 2-Stage Knife Sharpener, and I hand-wash them to prolong their life. I have to say, for the relatively inexpensive cost, these are a great set of knives with wide versatility. I haven't needed any other knife as a substitute for the knives in this block. Highly recommended!

Best knife I own, November 20, 2010
This review is from: Oneida 14-Piece Triple Rivet Classic Knife Set with Block (Kitchen)
I just own the paring knife, but it has great balance, stays sharp and cuts easily. I have bought other, more expensive knives but this one is the best.
