Great functionality but.....,

I love the capacity, the allover mesh for thorough draining and handles for off-sink useage; however, there is a lip circling the interior under the handles that annoyingly captures food when the strainer is flipped over to be washed.
So for large items this strainer is fine, but use a regular one for smaller or "flakeable" items that could get caught under the lip like cooked broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, etc

Perfect for Pasta and more,

This is "DA BOMB." Fits perfectly over the sink to drain pasta with no backwash. Takes up some serious room in the diswasher, but comes out sparkling. Beats any other colander/strainer I've ever had. Get it!

Invaluable kitchen accessory,

No need to set your colander on the bottom of the sink and risk getting stuff seeping back in through the bottom. This expands and leaves plenty of room underneath for draining and rinsing. I can't believe I used to use a standard round colander.

Great for Pasta, Not so good for Grains,

I purchased this hoping it would be a great grain strainer. It turned out to be an excellent pasta strainer, but the holes in the mesh are too large for grain straining.

This colander works well with most items except those that are very small, such as angel hair pasta, which comes through the sieve openings. I like the way it fits over half of my double sink. Also somewhat pricey.

Fits most sinks - not mine,

I was so sure that this woulf fit my lone sink that I never measured and was shocked when it missed the wide edge of my sink by just a few cms on each end! Moral- measure before you buy. But I like the mesh over other hole-y colanders and will just use it on the narrower side of the sink.

Holes Too Small,
By
This review is from: Oneida Expanding Colander (Kitchen)
I've used this colander for close to two years, and am sort of surprised by the positive comments on Amazon here. I regularly use it for noodles, stuffed pastas, and more. I'm now looking for a new colander because the holes to drain the water are just too small, so bits of food tend to get stuck in them, and then it's almost impossible to clean. Sure it works, but the maintenance is too much for me.

This colander is large, and the expanding arms let it sit (the short way) on my sink so I don't need to hold it. Its size lets me drain vegetables or spaghetti for eight at once with no difficulty. I have found it to be among the most convenient tools in my kitchen.
