Oneida brand flatware is very deceptive. They have been generally known as a quality brand, but over the past few years, they have marketed lower priced, lower quality flatware. Unfortunately, this is one of them. I purchased this set for college a few years ago and it defintiely did not last the test of time.

I really liked the look of the "Flight" set and thought that Oneida would be a quality brand. However, the flatware is very thin and light and were not heavy duty at all. They reminded me of cafeteria quality flatware...not something at a nice restaurant. Whenever I used them on anything that produced a little bit of resistance (like ice cream right out of the freezer), the flatware had a tendency to bend. Yes, that's right. BEND. Over the course of a few years, the spoons and knives were the hardest hit and some do look very warped. Every now and then I try to re-bend them back to the way they were, but alas it just doesn't look the same.

I recently purchased the Lenox Butler's Pantry 45-Piece Flatware Set and am much happier with this purchase.

I am very disapointed in this Oneida flatware. Perhaps, like everything else, if you purchased this pattern years ago, the quality might be different. But mine have rusted. Since Oneida, has a lifetime warrenty, I decided to send the sets back. True to their word they sent me new, but advised me that if I used them in tomato based products, and put them in dishwasher without rinsing, the same thing was going to happen.

I decided that in order to keep them nice, I would just handwash them after every meal. The knives are now rusting and I have only had the new set a year.

The set I replaced with this set was from Oneida and I got that set on sale at Wal-Mart and even after 10 years of use, they weren't rusted. I only replaced them because I found the Flight pattern at a bargain price. I am really sick about this set of flatware. Oneida will make it right, but what a hassle.

I always thought Oneida was a higher end product...no more.

I bought a 52-piece set at Costco in Jan 1996. It is a beautiful setting which I've used virtually every single day since I bought them for both daily and company use. In fact, I'm looking for a good price on a second 53-piece set! When I read the last post I just had to add my review...

There is a difference between the "Satin Flight" and the "Flight"... Satin Flight is a lesser quality of the same design from Oneida, and unless you've done a search, or been into an Oneida store, it is very easy to not realize this... I didn't. I suspect this may be the case with the previous reviewer because it certainly does not match my experience. I've also noticed that there is a "satin" version of a number of the popular Oneida patterns...

My set still looks new after countless dishwasher cleanings and hard use. If you are looking for a pattern that you can use everyday, holidays, parties, whenever, this is really the perfect pattern. I also like it because I've changed my dinnerware since I bought the stainless setting and they look as beautiful with the new dish pattern as they do with my older dishes!
