It is extremely difficult ordering online when you have not already seen the product in person. We had hoped this Oneida product would be better than the last product we bought because we were paying more. However, the actual product did not look or feel as good as the online picture led us to believe. Suffice it to say that silverware is one of those things we will not order online again.

This is decent set of flatware. Its the first complete set I've ever purchased, so the only thing that I have to compare it against is the cheap garage sale stuff that I had in college. Overall, its a pretty decent buy...I bought it when it came with 4 bonus place settings...only the bonus place settings were the shiny finish and the regular 8 place settings were the the satin...I'm very picky about things like this and I was very upset. Another thing, the edges of the silverware are not smooth, they are sharper than I would like them to be. I was hoping for more, but at this price, I wasn't suprised when I was dissappointed by their lack of quality. If you are buying this to look nice and use it for family get togethers, unless you this is your first set of flatware, don't get it, save your money...if you are just starting out, its not a bad buy...go to a brick and mortar store though and buy it there, this deal is nothing special..plus that way you will get to see what you are buying if you don't like it, you don't have to get it. If I would have bought this at a brick and mortar store, I would have taken it back...just to much of a pain to send it back now otherwise I would. At least 8 of my 12 placesetting match. If I ever have more than 8 people over, I'll just keep the lights low.

I bought this set in 2003 for less than $70, and the 53-piece came with the matching 20-piece as a freebie. I already had a more expensive and nicer looking set from Gorham for the 'more special' occasions and was looking for something to replace my daily use set, that was also very nice but was missing a few pieces thru the years.

I am very pleased with this Oneida Satin Sand Dune set. It feels good (right weight for daily use), looks nice and washes in dishwasher machine very well. It leaves behind no marks after washing when the pieces touch each other unlike my more expensive Gorham set.

I am just writing this feedback in 2005 because I happen to notice several negative comments on the page when I came back looking to buy the same set to send my son off to college with.

This set of Oneida flatware is a joy to own; the pattern is simple, elegant, and easy to live with. The design is timeless and the flatware is very durable. They are easy care; just put them in the dishwasher and they come out shiny and as good as new. I bought one set a few months ago and came back to order another. It is a fantastic set of flatware and a great deal as well. I enjoy the serving set and the extra set of teaspoons that are included in the set. I just love the fact that I got a a great price AND a bonus service for four along with the service for eight on this order. Thanks Amazon!

Wedding registries always amaze me with their $300 silverware sets. For her wedding, I gave my sister the Oneida Satin Sand Dune 53-piece with the additional 24-piece set and she thanks me every time she sees me. The set is attractive to the eye, strong and sturdy, and is one of the best values for your money. You can spend more and get silver that you will never want to use. You could spend less and get flatware that bends in even the most tender of steaks. Or, you could get the most consistant quality flatware that is beautiful and functional.
This flatware does not rust or spot. It maintains its luster after hundreds of dishwashes. It looks great next to your finest china or your everyday dinner plates. Great buy!

To tell you the truth, I was planning to give this set as a wedding present--a set worth $160.00 as a gift--not bad, right?

The set is definitely not $160.00 quality--it looks like something I could buy on sale for $20. I think Amazon misprices some of their merchandise--for example, on Amazon, I saw a Mikasa dish as being quoted as being worth $130.00 but being sold for $10--when I actually went to a Mikasa store, the WHOLE dish set was being sold for $130, not that one dish! Very misleading! Therefore, be careful when trying to bargain shop on Amazon--don't be mislead by the original price tag they give you.

We registered for this setting and received all the pieces as wedding gifts. We absolutely love this set. It survives every day wear and tear and still looks good. This setting complements any casual plate set.

Have now had this flatware for nearly 6 months and it still looks as good as the day I received it. Well crafted, elegant looking yet durable enough for daily use. I'm more than satisfied with this flatware and highly recommend it (especially at this price!).

I have had Oneida flatware on my table for as long as I can remember. Sand Dune is a classic. I had several pieces to replace over the years and this 53 piece set was perfect. If you are looking for a great basic everday set this is the pattern for you!

I received this set about 12 years ago. The name at that time of this set was driftwood. I received it as a gift, and have used it daily. Now 12 years later, it still looks like it did the day I received it. I highly recommend this pattern. I had to buy an extra set a few years ago to replace the teaspoons and salad forks that were lost with time. You couldn't tell which ones were old and which were the new set. You can not go wrong with this set.
