I just unpacked and used my 8 piece set of Oneida, and all I can say is WOW. It's just a gorgeous set of flatware, very elegant, yet sturdy enough for everyday use. I wasn't too sure when I ordered this set that it was the right design for me, but when I opened the box, the inlay on the handle is in a matte finish, with the outer curve a wonderfully shiny surface - a great complement. The wonderfully simple detailing at the base of the utensil itself is, in my opinion, one of the delights of this set. It's enjoyable to look at, and enjoyable to use.

Overall, I think anyone who gets this will thoroughly enjoy it. This set will last me a good, long while, and is very worth the price.

Oneida's service for 8 countenances a person's need for 2 teaspoons each. When I unpacked this set for the first time I wondered aloud about the need for 16 teaspoons. My fiancee quickly set me back on track observing that 8 spoons might be needed for cereal in the morning and 8 spoons might be needed for dinner in the evening.

As for the other pieces, this set is solid for its price. It looks elegant but yet it is durable for the long haul. The 18-8 stainless steel makes they pieces durable but its drawback is that it gives the pieces a dull sound which may surprise those who are used to a high pitched ping in their silverware. The added serving fork, spoons and sugar spoon are a nice compliment to the set.

I have owned Oneida for all of my 30 years as an adult. I have never had knives to tarnish and rust the way these knives have. The rest of the set is in great condition, but the knives look awful.
I had an Oneida set from Walmart for 8 years and the knives NEVER tarnished. I purchased my Flight from a better department store and am sick about it.

The reason I purchased this flatware set was for a gift.

First of all the design is really nice, which is one of the reasons I bought this set in the first place. My only complaint is that the steel is too lightweight and to me that makes it cheap.

I like to have flatware thats classy and elegant as well as heavy to me that adds a look as though its expensive. Although the look is great, the weight could have been heavier adding to the already elegant look.

Still its a good set.

This stuff is a great value. Its the perfect starter set, nice enough to not be embarassed if you're having people over, but not too nice to be thrown in the silverware drawer. It's several steps above the stuff you might get at Wal-Mart or Target, but nowhere near the cost of the stuff you can register for at Penny's that people have to buy for you by the individual place setting. You can get the whole set here for the cost of one or two place settings of the really good stuff and a lot of that isn't even dishwasher safe.

I am very pleased with this set overall but I was disappointed that Oneida doesn't offer any extra pieces other than the big fork and big spoon as serving pieces. I tried to find long teaspoons and slotted spoons to match but had no luck. As it turns out, they don't even make them anymore in their fine flatware either! Select sets offer a large slotted spoon at an extra price but not all of them. I finally found long teaspoons that "almost" match from Mikasa but still no luck with slotted spoons!

Although I was pleased with the look of this set, the blades of the knives did not hold up. Upon washing, black spots appeared that did not come off and appeared to be some sort of tarnish. I was very disappointed and returned the set. Brand new flatware should not look like that after a week of use.

Nice set, but there are way too many teaspoons. Would have preferred 5-piece settings like the regular Oneida Flight set.

I recently received the satin flight which I like quite well. I wanted more than 8 place settings so when I saw the buy both together for $119 to get 12 place settings, I did it. However the 24 piece is regular flight not the brushed stainless of satin flight. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and they were 2 different patterns. I am awaiting a reply from customer service.

Although my Satin Flight, Service for 8 is still in my hope chest I can tell you right now that this is a gorgeous, classy set of silverware. It's not only sturdy, but it's classic look can go from the everyday lunch to the formal dinner.

Also I know that the quality of Onieda is good. My mom has had her same set of Onieda (still looking great through 3 kids) and shes had it for 20 years. My grandmother who's set has been through 4 kids, 11 grandkids, and 1 greatgrandchild, is still ticking and still fine.

So for my granduation from high school a few years ago thats what I got. A gorgeous set of timeless silverware from Onieda in this pattern (which is by far the most classic and modern I've seen.)

This is a grea hope chest/ bridal pattern.
