Nice flatware,

This is really nice flatware, especially at the Friday Sale price. Extra teaspoons are included, so you won't come up short serving coffee or dessert after a meal. They aren't finished as nicely on the backs, as more high-end flatware would be. My other complaint is that the serving pieces are on the small side. I can't see serving something like green beans with the slotted spoon that is included.

High-quality, heavyweight stainless with simple-but-elegant design,

We bought the service-for-8 and the service-for-4 combination a couple months ago, and we are very pleased with it. It is heavyweight, solid stainless with very clean lines in the design. (The shape makes the forks and spoons stack nicely, too!) The packaging and product description on the web claimed this is 18/8 stainless (18% chromium and 8% nickel) but the pieces are stamped as being 18/10, which is a higher grade than expected. The Oneida web site confirms that Lincoln is actually 18/10, so this mislabeling of the packaging was to our benefit. (Advice on stainless grades if you are just starting to shop: 18/0=good, 18/8=better, 18/10=best.) The extra teaspoons makes this product different than the more-common 45-piece sets on the market.

>>>UPDATE 2008-read your warranty. Food left on, especially on the knives, will eat away the finish and the warranty won't cover it. Always wipe off food if you are not going to run the dishwasher right away. My knives are all wrecked and its from peanut butter!!!>>>>This flatware has a very solid feel to it. Utensils are long, you will have no trouble getting to the bottom of a big peanut butter jar with one of these knives! The desert/salad forks are the size of the dinner forks in my old set. They are extremely shiny (especially compared to the ratty old stuff I replaced...). I do notice myself polishing away water spotting from the dishwasher, but that is probably because they look so darn good when they are perfect and shiny. I have only had the set for 3 weeks, but so far I am very pleased.
