First of all in response to the "$600.00 price", the price posted on Amazon is the MSRP/Original Price as posted on the Oneida Website. Maybe the people/person posting reviews should check out this information prior to posting their own opinionated review! Second, the flatware is excellent especially for the "current" cost that Amazon charges (the Oneida website currently charges $399.99 for the exact same set). Try to find another flatware set of this quality and quantity at your local retail store for this price. It's a great set that will stay in my home forever!

This is top of the line flatware, very heavy hot forged solid material. You won't be bending these spoons on hard ice cream ! The set I received is fully polished (easier to keep clean), with very good attention to detail, in between the tines of the forks and the pierced openings on the spoons are the only areas not fully polished. All the handles are solid, half round on all the items except the knives, which feature a slab sided oval contour.
As far as price goes, the average price I've found matches Amazon's, but with a combination of the Friday sale and incentive bonus made a $1.75 a piece quite a bargain.

I love this flatware. It is by far the best I have ever owned, and everyone who sees it covets it. It is quite substantial and heavy, so if you like delicate this is not your set. The one complaint I have is that the teaspoons are quite small -- the ones in the picture are much larger than the ones I received. There are lots of soupspoons and tablespoons to use instead, but still I have 24 little teaspoons that I rarely use. The salad fork size is fine -- I use them all the time. I also should admit that I got these on a Friday Sale for about a hundred bucks (and thought I was being really extravagant at the time). I am much too cheap ever to have bought them at the current price, but they may well be worth it. (Maybe you get those bigger teaspoons if you pay full price.)

It is difficult to find heavy weight stainless steel high quality flatware period, this is definately a 'find' This service is excellent for both everyday use, and entertaining, and should last a lifetime.

Amazon's price will be hard to beat.

I just received this set the other day, and am absolutely thrilled. It is top-notch quality, and the pieces are very heavy. My silverware drawer looks so pretty and perfect, I am tickled every time I open it! It is definitely the last set I'll ever need. And at this price,(and free shipping to boot) there is no better deal anywhere.

This set is absolutely wonderful. There are so many pieces, all of which are a nice, heavy weight. It is such a quality set and I've received so many compliments on it already!

Although Oneida makes even better quality flatware, the Matisse pattern is all high-quality stainless steel, heavy, and well designed.

The only problem we had with it is that the pieces all seem too large -- the salad forks are about as big as I want a dinner fork to be, and we could not find a way to get the place knives to rest on our plates. (I guess if you like the new, oversize "European" style of flatware, you'll hold the knife in your right hand and not put it down until you've finished eating.)

We gave it away and ordered the Paul Revere pattern, which is lighter in weight and smaller in size as well as higher in quality according to Oneida factory representatives.

PS: The Matisse set is a good value at ~$250 but we paid ~$100 for 100 pieces, a real bargain.

This is by far the best silverware I have every owned! It is heavy and durable. I hesitated somewhat at the price but once it arrived I was very satisfied. This is the last set I will ever need. It is impressive to the eye and I have received many compliments on this fine set.

Lately I've noticed that Amazon has been inflating the List Price of items but this is so overboard it's a joke. $600.00 in your dreams, or maybe it's the drugs, or could it be just a plain old case of greed.
