5.0 out of 5 stars More bang for your buck
The first thing I noticed about these tongs when I got them was the weight. I was impressed by the weight of them. Oneida often makes quality stainless steel products but I was suprisingly amazed by the quality of such a simple product. When I shopped for salad tongs, I ended up buying the cheapest of the selection found on Amazon.com but I was by no means cheated...

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly designed
These things are very thin, thinner than a dime. Imagine putting your fingers through the loops and squeezing on the business end of a butter knife. They are extremely uncomfortable. They look nice, the 18/8 steel is nicely polished, but functionally they are useless.

The first thing I noticed about these tongs when I got them was the weight. I was impressed by the weight of them. Oneida often makes quality stainless steel products but I was suprisingly amazed by the quality of such a simple product. When I shopped for salad tongs, I ended up buying the cheapest of the selection found on Amazon.com but I was by no means cheated on quality. Although heavy, the tongs were not too heavy. The function of the tongs (opening and closing) was easy. The handle where you place your fingers is relatively comfortable and decent size. The fork and spoon part of the tongs is large enough to serve good portions with each scoop without skimping or loosing anything as you serve.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not comfortable to use., February 6, 2007

These tongs work well, easily cleaned, however, the handles are very uncomfortable because the metal is very thin and flat. They would be perfect if they were easier on your hands.

These salad tongs are sturdy, light weight and one can get under and over the lettuce and fixings in a large sald bowl. I would make the loops in the handles a bit smaller in order to insure a better grip whne tossing.

The tongs are sturdy and good. The only down side is that the places where you put your fingers are a little small and the metal is a bit harsh on the fingers, as the metal is not rounded. All in all, they are good though.

I bought this set and another set as replacements for a salad set that was lost at a church potluck. I hoped these would work for us, as a set fastened together is harder to lose, but they don't feel very good in the hand. The edges of the handles are too sharp to be comfortable. Back they go. We kept the other set, which were two separate pieces.

3.0 out of 5 stars Salad Tongs, February 10, 2009
This review is from: Oneida Raffia 11 1/2-Inch Stainless Steel Salad Tongs (Kitchen)
These tongs are okay. I was expecting a more durable pair. They have not broken, but feel a little flimsy and the hinge wiggles a bit. They do look nice for intertaining though.

Am I really doing this? Reviewing a pair of salad tongs? What has my life become. Well anything to help you in your quest to choose from among the many and varied salad tongs out there. I like that these are stainless. Have a nice heft to them. Great for salad. Also works for scooping up soil, picking up dead flies, pinching the better half's bottom, etc. Washes clean especially after the pinching.
