5.0 out of 5 stars By CD and Vinyl
A long awaited return from this essential group. Do yourself a favor and buy the double vinyl to hear a totally resequenced album with two critically absent songs from the CD version; the new song order creates an amazingly different listening experience, especially when coupled with the need to actually stand up and flip sides. A great CD, but an even better double...

2.0 out of 5 stars Let's Electrocute!
Just downloaded this MP3 today. Wish I would have thought about it more. One of the best bands of the '90's, they have definitely grown up......and have nothing much to say. Gone are Richard's unique and catchy guitar licks, memorable driving bass lines, spacious drum beats by Ed. Fontaine's voice has really matured, which makes her now sound the same as any other...

5.0 out of 5 stars digging it so far, April 5, 2011
This review is from: On the Ones and Threes (Audio CD)
I've been listening to this for about a day or two. I like to take it slow and give songs multiple listens. I'm about 7 songs into it now. So far, I'm really into their new sound. When I first heard it, I wasn't too impressed--but after some more time with it, it just might be one of my favorite Versus albums. It's really solid. It's warm, mature, and has got a bit of a classic rock vibe, and all the pretty guitar work and vocal melodies they do so well. You'll have to just give it a chance. don't expect it to be anything like their previous works--other than the fact that there are some really beautiful songs done the way only Versus can. Anyway, I'm really happy with it. I'm thinking about buying the vinyl and I don't even own a record player yet.

Gone are Richard's unique and catchy guitar licks, memorable driving bass lines, spacious drum beats by Ed. Fontaine's voice has really matured, which makes her now sound the same as any other female singer. I'm still going to see this band next month when they come around, but I just hope they play some old songs. Bored by this album.

If you like Merge bands reuniting to make great music, check out the new (kind of) Polvo album on Merge.
