Manic, but mostly enjoyable,

If you are looking for a ballad, you've come to the wrong place. These guys, play fast, sing fast and the pace rarely slows. I find if I'm not in the mood for this CD, it drives me crazy. This is almost better mixed in a playlist, so you only here an Immaculate Machine song here and there.
I got this CD because the female vocal lead, Kathryn Calder, also sings for the New Pornographers. I greatly like her songs to that of the male vocalist, but in his defense I almost always prefer a female voice. This CD is less enjoybale than the New Pornographers - it's rarely something you can sing along too. The emphasis is really on the (manic) drumming. But this CD does have its charms. The lyrics are interesting and often are in stark contrast to the upbeat vibe. One of my favorite songs, "Broken Ship" is about the classic one lifeboat situation - who will survive? And in my opinion the very best song, "No Way Out," is all about the torn feelings of someone who feels trapped in a relationship but doesn't want to leave either. Other stand-outs are "Phone No." and "Two Places." You might want to try downloading a few songs to make sure you can listen to them all the way through!

What a talented band this is. I saw them in concert opening for New Pornographers in Chicago and they were fabulous. I hope they get the attention they deserve.

This is a great trio! I love these guys! Just listen to the drumming alone. The song writing is wonderful. The band looks good. I own all of their music and you will not be unhappy if you get one of their c.d.s These people are truly one of the up and coming new generation bands . It is inspirational music. I love them!
