Manic, but mostly enjoyable,

If you are looking for a ballad, you've come to the wrong place. These guys, play fast, sing fast and the pace rarely slows. I find if I'm not in the mood for this CD, it drives me crazy. This is almost better mixed in a playlist, so you only here an Immaculate Machine song here and there.I got this CD because the female vocal lead, Kathryn Calder, also sings for the New Pornographers. I greatly like her songs to that of the male vocalist, but in his defense I almost always prefer a female voice. This CD is less enjoybale than the New Pornographers - it's rarely something you can sing along too. The emphasis is really on the (manic) drumming. But this CD does have its charms. The lyrics are interesting and often are in stark contrast to the upbeat vibe. One of my favorite songs, "Broken Ship" is about the classic one lifeboat situation - who will survive? And in my opinion the very best song, "No Way Out," is all about the torn feelings of someone who feels trapped in a relationship but doesn't want to leave either. Other stand-outs are "Phone No." and "Two Places." You might want to try downloading a few songs to make sure you can listen to them all the way through!

What a talented band this is. I saw them in concert opening for New Pornographers in Chicago and they were fabulous. I hope they get the attention they deserve.

This is a great trio! I love these guys! Just listen to the drumming alone. The song writing is wonderful. The band looks good. I own all of their music and you will not be unhappy if you get one of their c.d.s These people are truly one of the up and coming new generation bands . It is inspirational music. I love them!

Avoid their live performances,

At best, this band is passable. The music is unmemorable, the vocals are weak, and the band itself is unengaging. I saw them open for the New Pornographers on tour, and despite their ear-catching name, should have figured they'd fit the formula. What formula is that, you ask? The one where you go to see an indie rock band of the level of New Pornographers - that is to say, a band that is unique, talented, and has a following but hasn't crossed over into much radio play, or money-lining-the-pockets album sales - and you pray to whatever you choose to pray to that there will only be one opening band. Because as the bands move down the line up, so the assault to your ears increases proportionately. Immaculate Machines was the first band in a three band line up. By definition, they had to be awful.Though their music was completely forgettable, their own self congratulatory commentary on their own creativity has become a running joke around here. Example: one band member: Alright! Now we're going to play another really cool song for you! another band member: AWESOME!!!! Sounded like a pep rally for the losing team, not indie rock. This is not recommended.

Mindblowing musicianship,

When I saw this band, I said "werd... this is ill". They sound kinda like some other bands I've heard too. Kinda like a cross between Mystery Facelift and Killing Flowers. You have probably never heard of those other bands, but that is okay, because slimshady69 is way more up on his "ish" than any of you. So take his word for it. They will make you feel horny. In a good way. You simply must get this album. Or don't. Like slimshady69 gives a #@&^. He just wants to slam the keyboard chick! Whatsup baby? How you doin? I hope she doesn't have a boyfriend in the band, because the next time she comes through Parkville, Wisconsin, I will have candles ready in the bathtub. Straight gentlemanly steez, maybe a bottle of wine. Some soul music. Thats right biatch.
