Product Description

Award yourself a gold medal in the retro-cool sneaker competition wearing the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66. Introduced in 1966, this was the first shoe with the famous tiger stripes and worn at the Olympic games in Mexico in 1968. History lessons aside, this is one sweet sneak with a tonal leather and suede upper, soft lining and traction-loving outsole.

    Shoes fit perfect!

It fits great, and the thin sole makes the shoe very lightweight and gives you better control than a thick clunky shoe.

And the arch support on these shoes are amazing!

I bought this shoe for it's appearance, positive reviews and historical significance. Ontisuka shoes are famous. At first I was a bit skeptical. How could a shoe from the 1966 Olympics be any good in the 21st century? The answer is some things are designed properly from their inception and last the test of time. This shoe is an example of that. Just like a 66' Shelby Cobra or the metal prop rod used to hold up the hood of your automobile, this shoe remains a competitive idea even today. Apart from the fact these shoes squeak like crazy on wet floors and cause one to imagine they are in a scene from Police Academy where Micheal Winslow is simulating squeaking noises, these make a very good daily active shoe. The sole is very thin and I made sure to order about a half size smaller for optimum fit. I usually wear a 91/2m US but a 9m US in this shoe fits me like a glove... (or in this case a well fitting shoe). These shoes are not made for rain or wet conditions. Think of this shoe like a sports car, minimalist and purpose built. If your goal is heel and toe down-shifting in your sports car, look no further. These shoes offer great feel. They are stylish, well made and are pretty comfortable, but adding a Dr. Scholl's gel heel support makes them about perfect. So apart from the embarrassing wet floor squeaky aspect and lack of traction in the wet, these are a great performing shoe. Kinda pricey though. An Adidas Samba or Gazelle are about half the price and probably just as effective but not nearly as unique or aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. .

Get 1 or 1.5 sizes smaller than what you normally wear for Asics. Light and not the most cushioned or comfortable but there is something lovable about these

I've had the Bike version of the Mexico 66 for years. Unfortunately it seems like they've discontinued that shoe. I absolutely love the Mexico 66. It fits great, and the thin sole makes the shoe very lightweight and gives you better control than a thick clunky shoe. They also look great. I saw the Black/Gray/Gold style on sale on Amazon and I jumped on it. So glad I did. The bike version had a stiffer leather that cut up my heel for a while until I broke it in. This one though comes soft and supple and wears great right out of the box. I'm not sure why the photos of the Black/Gray/Gold style don't show the rear signature 'Tiger' flap, but trust me, it's there, and the word 'Tiger' is written in a gold that matches the tongue.

Overall, these are my favorite shoes hands down. You can't go wrong. If you're on the fence, definitely pick up a pair, you won't regret it.

I received the white/blue pair and they looked true to picture. The colors are vibrant. And the arch support on these shoes are amazing! They feel custom made. Honestly, the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn. I must urge you to buy the size you normally wear. I purchased the slip on Onitsuka a few weeks back. They did not fit true to size. So I assumed all Onitsuka were oversized. I ordered these in a size 9, thinking they would fit since I usually wear a 10 in mens. I had to return them and get a true to fit, size 10.

I'm new to the "fashion" sneaker world, and didn't even know this niche existed, but this shoe was a perfect balance of throwback style and function for me to wear as a work shoe. Yes, I'm lucky enough to NOT have to dress up for work, but bright colorful tennis shoes are always too loud for my tastes. These fit and look perfectly for my office job and I love to see what sneakers back in the day looked like. The name is rather appealing too!

The fit is almost great. I'll admit I suffer from a problem with shoes fitting properly. I'm just wide enough that medium fit shoes are a bit snug, but narrow enough that I'm swimming in wides. There's a bit too much tightness around the ball of the foot for me, but for most it's probably fine. My big complaint is that I can't wear thicker socks with the shoes. Since their leather, I'm hoping they'll stretch a bit with time. Good looking, though.

Nice shoe. Was a bit upset that Black was the only cheap version (~$40) compared to other preferable colors priced 2x as much. However, I really think it is a nicely done black that looks better on my feet than they do in the pictures.

They fit well, but the support is a bit different that I am used to. They feel like they are a bit narrower than normal and they slightly lean outwards. Nothing terrible, just something to get used to.

This pair of shoes fits nice and snug even when the laces aren't necessarily all that tight, and they are a fairly light weight shoe as well. Almost like wearing a super sturdy slipper and fits like an awesome foot glove. They fit like a show aught to fit. Traction is pretty good too. Just play music live in them and ran around the rest of the show and had control, never felt a slip comin on.
