Plenty of Input and Output options, coax, hdmi, rca, component, optical, even a universal port. Unfortunately no usb , which i thought was odd considering it had nearly every other connection known to man. The form factor is nice, the speakers are smaller but not too small. I replaced a 15 year old sony rack system with this unit and it outperforms it in every way. Highly adjustable, from speaker crossover tweaks to room distance to virtual theater settings. The default settings are pretty good, I have a larger living room with hard wood floors and the system was crisp and clear sounding right out of the box. After spending about 30 minutes adjusting and fine tuning, it was even better. My only caveat is the weak wire they ship with, but good speaker wire is easy to come by. The speakers can be wall mounted or placed on stands, and I will be purchasing a couple stands for further stereo separation. The dynamic EQ settings work great, as dialogue can so easily be overpowered in movies and TV shows by music and special effects, so having a built in compressor saves you the trouble of a separate unit. The unit does generate a bit of heat and is well ventilated. Do not stack anything on top of it or place it in a tight area.

This home theater system sounds great for the price, but the HDMI pass-thru has become a real problem. Here's a timeline over four months:

1st month: everything worked great, and I was very glad to have gotten such a great deal ($215.00) on this system.

2nd month: audio began cutting out sporadically, just for a moment, then back to normal. This was just a minor inconvenience, happening maybe once every 15 minutes. I gave it a factory reset and the issue seemed to happen less frequently.

3rd month: video began cutting out along with audio, still just for a moment, and still a semi-minor inconvenience. I began to get more concerned about the product at this point, swapping HDMI cables to check for any problems other than the receiver. I found no problems with any HDMI cable.

4th month: video constantly cutting in and out. At this point, I remove all HDMI cables from the receiver and attach them straight to the TV, while running an optical audio cable back to the receiver. No more problems. So we've narrowed the problem down to the receiver's HDMI pass-thru, specifically the HDMI out to TV, since this was happening on all inputs.

Conclusion: Hopefully this is just a bad apple, but judging by the number of online complaints regarding HDMI in Onkyo receivers, it may be more than that. If you plan to buy this unit, just make sure you have plenty of HDMI inputs on your TV so you can adjust if necessary.

I picked this thing up from best buy for 150 shipped on clearance. Came very well packaged in the original box. I run the sound about 40 percent most of the time and it is perfect in my pretty large living room. So the negatives first, included wire is way to thin and very very short, I used the two back pieces for my front speakers and they were about the right size they wouldn't have came close to my back wall probably needed to be twice as long and I just tossed the front speaker wire picked up a 100 feet roll of 16 gauge and it is much better. The remote is hard to program and can't get it to do everything I need but I plan to buy a good remote to control everything also when programming direct tv remote I have to switch from the box to aux 1 to control volume kind of annoying but not to bad.
As for the pros the unit looks like a 500 dollar system the 4 hdmi input is awesome as I leave bluray Xbox satellite box all plugged in. Sound is great I don't even run at half power and it satisfies my needs completely. Easy to hook up just plug and go (however took me a few minutes with the manual to figure out how to get sound out of rear speakers).
Overall if you are looking at upgrading I think this is the perfect thing for under 300 bucks.

Verified Purchase
Great Sounding system. I live in a one bedroom apartment and this system is the one that went into the bedroom where there is Cable TV and a PS3. It sounds spectacular and I am very pleased with the purchase. So far this system has stood up to everything I have thrown at it. Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag...the ship battles...are amazing...the cannon fire rocks the room...super system for the casual to frequent gamer.

The included speakers.. leave a lot to be desired. Thankfully, I already had solid front R/L bookshelf speakers. Also, the receiver lacks a pre-amp subwoofer output - it's amplified only, so if you want to upgrade to a powered sub in the future you're limited to finding one that can take speaker-level inputs. Or modifying the receiver to add a line-level sub output.

That out of the way, the receiver seems to be pretty solid. The OSD is basic, but allows you to do any setup functions that can be accessed through the receiver's front-panel setup button. Only gripe about the interface is you can't add radio presets through the remote; you have to use the front panel to do so.

The included sub is surprisingly decent for a passive sub, if not a little boomy, and the receiver has an adjustable crossover. Overall, the receiver has a lot more features than I expected for what I paid for it.

Oddly enough, the included speakers are all 6 ohm; expect closer to 80 watts when run with 8 ohm speakers.
