Best feature: being able to use the remote the change the tracks, usually with the TV off.

By contrast this Onkyo dock, I can't get the Onkyo 809 receiver remote to recognize it, and I can't get it to display any album art using the dock.

This is a good product that should complete anyone's audio setup and I highly recommend it.

First, I must say that I purchased this product from another website...much to my chagrin because it's way cheaper here. Haven said that...on to the review.

It sounds really good. I'm using this with the 160 Gig IPod Classic. I have a Onkyo TX-NR708 receiver and a 7.1 speaker setup using Polk Tsi300 speakers as my fronts, the Polk CS10 as my center, Polk Tsi100's as my surrounds, Polk OWM3's as my rear surrounds and the Yamaha SW315 Sub- Woofer finishing off the setup. I mention the speakers that I am using with the IPod to let you know just how good a docking station this is and that it has the ability to bring out great sound.

I am impressed with the sound that I get while using the IPod on this docking station. It's great to use when I have my family over and don't want to take the time out to change CD's. The sound is crystal clear, the highs are high, the mid-range is very good and the base is ridiculous and I always use the All Channel music sound choice.

I initially set it up so I could use the on-screen display but I turned that function off just as a personal preference. It worked perfectly well but I have the docking station placed in such a convenient place that there is no need for me to use it. I like to play it with the TV off. The remote that comes with the docking station works really well so that is what I use instead. No need for the on- screen display. I can't speak about how well it works for the I Phone because I don't have one. This is a good product that should complete anyone's audio setup and I highly recommend it.

First let me say that this devise works. You can play your iPod through your Amp with it. You could do that with the USB cord provided with your iPod. What you get for $114.00 is a nice looking Docking Station. This you must hook up to your Amp with no less than 8 (yes 8 counting the 3 cord to one connector as 3) connections. Now that this done you may program the remote control that comes with it, or the one that came with the your ONKYO Receiver. Good luck with that. I have a degree in Computer Science and it took me two hours to figure it out and I'm still not sure if I'm using it correctly. Once you have accomplished this you can then "Control" your iPod with the remote via a TV display. The display looks like something on your first "Pong" game. VERY simple, white on black letters in pixel font. Please. No Cover (Album) art (that you get with the USB connection deal). Why? Why can't it just transfer the iPod screen to the TV. Why can't it use the universal port on the ONKYO Receiver? I am keeping the devise ONLY because I don't like the idea of my expensive iPod dangling around on a USB Cable and that is the ONLY reason. I usually don't do reviews but it time to give back to society. I have an iPhone 4S and when I did my research, I could not find any confirmations that the 4S would work. I even called Onkyo USA and they were pretty much worthless and would not give an authoritative answer that it would. I decided to ordered one cause I did not like the others docks on the market including the apple universal dock. In addition I purchased the DS-A4 from Amazon cause of their no hassle return policy.

Bottom line it works and sounds great playing music. Photos and videos work too. I have the component video cables hooked up to the Toshiba LCD TV for display and the results are excellent. I have the audio to my Onkyo SX 575 receiver input and it sounds awesome.

The best price I found was on amazon too. Like other reviewers the remote does basic functions only like play pause etc. That not a bid deal for me ...

Also it will not work with case/skin on your iPhone. I have one of the thinest cases made and it won't allow the phone seat on the apple connector so you get no sound and think it does not work. Take the case off and it works.

I have an Apple iPod touch 32GB (4th Generation) - Black - Current Version that gets a major workout from my daily obsessive video playing, and the small screen on it just wasn't cutting it for me. Because I wanted to display my videos on my HD television as I went about my business rather than squinting glumly at pint-sized handheld pop stars, I started researching my options.

My first upgrade attempt was a specially designed cord called the iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, iPod Touch (4th Generation) to HDMI Adapter and 6 feet USB Data Sync & Charger Cable 2-Piece Kit. Worked like an HD dream every day...for the couple of hours or so until the iPod's battery fizzled out and sent me back to "squint mode". Frustratingly impractical for my heavy duty usage. Search resumed.

When I ran across this dock online, I went to the manufacturer's website for additional information. First let me say that if you have a question you may as well swim to corporate headquarters in Japan and ask it because that will be quicker than getting a customer service response by e-mail. I had a simple question. I'm not at all an audiophile or a techno geek. Some of the reviews I've seen for this product may as well be written in Sanskrit for all I understand them. I don't have a home theater or extra speakers or anything fancy. I have an outdated Toshiba HDTV that is still motoring along and that is what I wanted to connect to. I asked if it were necessary to have Onkyo products to connect and use this dock.
