I bought this for a house we were building. 2 years down the road we've finally finished the house and when finally installing the Onkyo system it had a problem with the Rear Right Speaker Channel. It wouldn't output anything, but speakers works fine since I tried it on the Rear Left Speaker port and it works. Now my question is how long it the warranty for this? Or would there be a quick fix for it.

But aside from the issue the system works well I've gotta say... hence, the 3 stars instead of 1

Its was a great system while it lasted (2 years and 2 months). Great sound, great quality. No issues with the sub woofer as reported by others. You will be surprised to know that Onkyo's units are probably the only units on the market with the highest output wattage, which gives you great sound, just like a theatre experience. I had the unit connected to a high end surge protector. After 2 years and 2 months, one fine day, the unit will just not power on, I disconnected the unit, tried to connect it to a different power outlet, still will not power on. I called Onkyo's tech support and after 55 minutes of call on hold, the tech representative said that I need to try to keep the unit unplugged for 1 hour and see if it will power on. By the time I had called Onkyo's tech support, the unit was already unplugged for more than 1 week. The tech support informed me that since Onkyo's warranty is only for 2 years, there is nothing they can do to help. I opened up the unit to ensure that its not a problem with the power cord or the fuse. On testing, both the fuse and power code were perfect, no issues, so it looks like something went wrong with the system and one fine day it just stopped working. Now I am out of $450 that I paid for the unit. I was very happy with the system while it lasted, now I am confused should I buy another Onkyo product because it was good while it lasted or what if the new Onkyo product also dies after 2 years

I purchased this theatre receiver system based on knowledge of ONKYO products from the long past. I should have realized that today no one cares about quality or maybe I just got a lemon. I had the unit for 6 months when all the HDMI ports but one went dead. I sent it in under warranty to the service center and they replaced the HDMI board. It worked for about three weeks and the HDMI ports all went dead again. It is now at a different repair facility and parts have been ordered. That was 4 weeks ago. I will buy a Yamaha next time. Lesson learned.

Overall this system is "OK", but individual components of it have issues. Less than a month after receiving it the control board in the subwoofer went bad. I had to haggle with my area Onkyo repair shop to cover the the return shipping on it. I wasn't about to pay for it considering it went bad so soon. 6 weeks layer I get my sub back, but thankfully haven't had any issues since.

The receiver is a different story. The HDMI switching board has developed a bad habit of changing sources on it's own occasionally. For instance I might be on my PS4 and suddenly it'll change to the TV output. Or worse yet, output on whatever I'm watching will just cut out, and a few seconds later will return with a loud " snap, crackle & POP" echoed through my speakers. After my experience with the "local" Onkyo repair place & my sub I've learned how to live with this problem, but I really shouldn't have to.

Both of these issues surprised me, as Onkyo has always been a brand I thought was higher in quality than bargain equipment. However it seems nowadays they are scrimping and saving on their parts for a larger profit margin.

Overall the deal for the entire 7.1 system is amazing, as I never thought I'd get all that for such a cheap price. Now I know why, as Onkyo must've cleared the bottom of their parts bins to make the components. As it is now the entire speaker set, including my repaired sub, work fine. However as soon as I can afford to I'll be buying a new receiver to replace the Onkyo as it's quality & dependability are nowhere near what I expected.

I was very excited about the price point on this item. Unfortunately, as with most things, you get what you pay for. Immediately, out of the gate my subwoofer was defective. I confirmed this through Onyko's support and OneCall replaced it for me immediately. OneCall had excellent customer service. After about 6 months, one of the HDMI ports failed on my unit. Unfortunately, after 30 days I had to deal directly with Onyko, instead of OneCall. This is where things really went down hill. I had to have this fixed at one of Onyko's service centers, which took over two weeks to complete. My other older Onyko receiver failed in the exact same manner. Blown out CBL/SAT HDMI port. Coincidence? Not according to the authorized service center I called for a repair quote. Apparently, they see Onyko receivers come in for this all the time. I contacted Onyko regarding this and they were not helpful at all. I've had nothing but bad luck with Onyko products and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I purchased a Sony STR-DH740 to replace my out of warranty Onyko receiver and I couldn't be happier. I posted my experience on Onyko's support forums for anyone else who might run into the same issues as I did. What did Onyko do? Removed the post. Their support is on the same level as their products. Complete garbage.
