The Worst Poker Book Currently in Print,
By masterbill "masterbill" (Long Island, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
I bought this book because I highly respect Doyle Brunson as a poker player and author (Super System I). Unfortunately this book contains less information about being successful at on-line poker than an Internet Poker for Dummies book would. All of the useful information appears on approximately ten pages which may be helpful to players who are new to Internet play. Mr. Brunson's expertise is clearly in live games and tournaments. He offers little insights into on-line tournament or ring game play.
As a poker player I was very disappointed that the bulk of the book contained the basic rules of poker and instructions on how to download poker software. Many pages discussed Doyle's poker site ([...]) and how great a poker player he is. After spending approximately one hour reading this book, I raced to Barnes and Noble to return it. This is the worst book on on-line poker and may be the poorest poker guide currently in print. I advise all poker players to avoid buying this book. Super System I and Super System II are much better values, if you are interested in Dolly Brunson's approach to Texas Hold'em. Consider Internet Texas Hold'em by Matthew Hilger for a solid book on playing limit Hold'em on-line.

This product makes an outstanding paper weight. It can also be used to protect kitchen and dining surfaces from warm serving dishes. It includes over 191 different pieces that might be useful when starting a camp-fire. Numerous options for paper airplanes. All in all a very versatile product. Not recommended in any way as an aid to someone looking for information on how to play online poker, other than you can rest a cold beverage on it while you play.

Dolly just bluffed me out of a fifteen dollar pot!,
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
I just received this book this morning and after reading it in about an hour this is exactly how i feel. This book is mainly concerned with teaching novices how to sign up for and get money into online games. Doyle provides the exact same online poker write up that is included in Super System 2 and little else. About half way through the book I decided to skim through to the end to find something other than fluff and I found a quote that really angered me, "I need to remind you that this isn't a book on poker strategy. It's a book intended to get you familiar with the idea of playing poker online...". Now, I absolutely love Doyle, but I'm sorry I don't need him to write a book on how to download software for Doylesroom.com and then open up an online bank account and he should have known that. I really thought this was going to be THE book on online strategy and I have been eagerly awaiting what this master of the game had to offer although now I am completely dissapointed. Do not purchase this book unless you really want to spend fifteen dollars on an endorsement for [...] and a how to for signing up online.

A drawn-out Ad for his site.,
By KC "gravy_gecko" (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
I read this book in under an hour. Nothing new here. It mostly consists of advice on how to get up and running on a poker site, with constant plugs of the site that Doyle endorses. Too bad, because Doyle is supposed to be one of the few old pros that really enjoys online poker, so I was really looking forward to his insights into the nuances of the game.
With so many new poker books on the horizon, I would save my money for a better one than this.

Don't even consider this a poker book,

What a sad sad thing I've read here. Basically an invitation to buy his other books, and play at Doylesroom and the book does include an installation CD. Absolutely no strategic advice, and nothing but ramblings about the basic rules of hold'em....SAD! Don't buy this book.

Blatant Ad for Doyle's Room,
By Lem (Gurnee, Illinois USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
This book reads more like an advertisement and FAQ for Doyle's online poker room. There is very little of value here for the money. Do yourself a favor and buy "Super System" or another title that has worthwhile advice.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
Unless you have no knowledge of how to use a computer, this book is almost useless. There is no knowledge here that is unique or will help your game at all. It teaches you things like how to download software, what online poker is, etc. etc.. I got nothing out of it. To add insult to injury, there is a CD ROM for his own website's poker room at the end to advertise his own site. Save your $s and buy someting else.

Less than insightful,
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
O.K. Hands down. Do not buy this book unless you are brand new to the game of poker. I thought this would be an insightful book into the world of internet play through the eyes of one of the worlds greatest no limit holdem players. Wrong! This book is an ad for Doyle's Room. This book reminds you of this every 5 minutes. Doyle plays alot online and I thought I might learn something new but all this book told me is the same stuff I have been learning myself by playing online for the past 4 years. There is some good tips but to few to buy this advertisment for Doyle's web site, because once again thats what this book is.

Very Basic Book for Beginners,
By
This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
If you're just thinking about about playing online, this book will do just fine. But it will not teach you anything you can't figure out on your own. There's not much strategy or anything valuable here. Just an elementary introduction to online games.

shocking!,

This review is from: Online Poker: Your Guide to Playing Online Poker Safely & Winning Money (Paperback)
I am shocked, stunned and appalled that a lifetime professional poker player would take advantage of poker newcomers simply for money! People, a few years ago you parents would have warned you to stay away from people like Doyle Brunsen! Now everyone thinks he is this kind old grandfater type! Get real!
