5.0 out of 5 stars For the newbie and experienced recruiter
Most recruiters have never had a formal course on how to recruit online and those seminars take time and cost a few bucks. I thought I knew my way around, but decided to check this book out. I was surprised that I learned quite a few things...a lot infact, and I consider myself seasoned in the field. If you're looking to learn how to source and recruit I'd suggest this...

2.0 out of 5 stars The Emperor Has No Clothes?
Am I the only one that can see the lack of value in this book? Maybe others have stock in the publishing company, but I found this book to be without merit. It tells you nothing that you cannot find out yourself by just getting online and surfing around a bit. I'm sorry I wasted my money. I was looking for a magic bullet, but I got a dud.

I was surprised that I learned quite a few things...a lot infact, and I consider myself seasoned in the field. If you're looking to learn how to source and recruit I'd suggest this book, however, if you're looking for books to tell you where to go, I'd suggest the Recruiter's Bible or Internet Recruiting Edge.

I found this book to be of no use to me. The information is not current and the suggestions are misguided. Save your money on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Keep Recruiters Actively Involved and Successful!, July 18, 2000
This review is from: Online Recruiting (Paperback)
Donna Graham has written Online Recruiting to assist company recruiters to find the best candidates to fulfill their company needs. She provides her readers with information about essential online tools, resources, and offers successful strategies that will make the process of searching for good employees less confusing, more user friendly, and more productive.

Graham encourages her readers to take full advantage of every opportunity to post job openings and to view job search resources such as job boards, newsgroups, company Websites, traditional newspaper classified ads, and other forums pertaining to employment services. She identifies and compares the major job search Websites that recruiters should know about. She encourages her readers to bookmark those sites that offer unique value and rich content - these sites should always be at their fingertips!

Readers are presented with some sample job postings they can freely adapt for their own use. Graham will help her readers craft their own postings that will address touchy issues such as job titles, salaries, specifications, employment history, and educational requirements. Her instruction will keep readers operating well within the boundaries of employment law.

Employee retention is a major concern of Graham. She conveys the sentiment that people looking for work ought to be helped to find careers, not merely jobs to get by in life. There's a big difference here. According to Graham, prospective employers should seek the right people and show genuine interest in them, particularly in areas of employment practices.

Job recruiters working for large corporations, mid-size companies, and for themselves will find this book to be a valuable guide for carrying out effective online employee searches. Graham's tips, tricks, techniques, key concepts, strategies, and approach to doing business will keep recruiters actively involved and successful with their work. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars old or new to recruiting?, May 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Online Recruiting (Paperback)
I have been in the recruiting business for a number of years and have watched with interest the growth of the Internet. I knew it was unavoidable companies would start using the Internet for more and more of its hiring potential. Of course, I was proved correct. To keep up with progress, if you are a human resource specialist, you need to read this book. Donna Graham has provided the person who has been 'around the block' and the person who hasn't yet gotten 'his/her feet wet', a book to introduce one to the ins and outs of the Internet recruiting market. Her chapters have given me some much-needed insights on how to improve my marketing strategies. I particularly liked the section of the book which dealt with finding places on the Internet to use. I can not express in words how much time having these links available has saved me. I feel you will not be disappointed in the book's down home use of language and user friendly format. For those of you who like to skim, she has included a "Key Concept" section which summarizes the chapter's content. Whether new or old to the recruiting businesses, I recommend this book. 5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend this guide for online recruiting, December 21, 2000

This book is well written and packs a lot of very useful information for company recruiters. For this reason I purchased a number of these books for all my recruiters. This book has great endorsements by Monster.com, The Riley Guide, and CareerXRoads. I can see why they say "written for the experienced recruiter, the rookie, and everyone in between."

This review is from: Online Recruiting (Paperback)
Donna Graham has done a fine job of outlining the stategies and techniques needed to find top candidates using the Internet. It can be confusing without a guide and this is a good guide. This is not an easy time to be hunting for candidates and you need all the help you can get. She looks at surfing, posting, advertising and more. This is one of the books you should have if you are a serious recruiter.
