Rand McNally continues the winning tradition this nicely practical road atlas. Every year they provided an updated edition, with updated maps, a mileage and driving times table, etc. The book is large, light, and handy. For thirty years I've used this atlas for traveling, directions, and just to learn about the geography of the USA. Practical, affordable, and easily readable, even in a time when they say that half of U.S. adults cannot use a map. Even in this age of increasing GPS technology, Rand McNally sets the standard.

Great atlas, but the vinyl cover is really just a slip-cover over a regular paper atlas. Which, maybe, is good for when you want to replace it. Certainly makes it more durable and spill-proof.

Also, it's a little large to fit neatly in the seat-back pockets of my CR-V. The maps are big and relatively easy to read though.
