Good, not Best, but not Blackout,
By
This review is from: Only in Amerika (Audio CD)
Seriously, i cant believe one of the other reviewers compared Blackout to Broke. I think Broke was the best album this band will probably ever turn out, however that doesnt mean that this album isnt great.
Max Cavelera did his greatest stuff with Sepultura, but if you dont think Soulfly is any good, well get your ears checked. This album is a strong departure from Blackout, its rough, crude, and yes probably more vulgar than would seem possible. This was done on purpose. If you love HED p.e. and thought Blackout was a sellout album, go buy this album. It is redemption, there is no way that it will get airplay. (THEY DID THIS ON PURPOSE) If you know that hed has a self-titled album, or better yet if you have ever heard of a thing called Church of Realities then buy this album. You know what, better yet, go see HED live. If you think HED is jumping the shark with this album, go see HED live, if you think that HED is misogynistic/hateful/or any of the other crap, GO SEE HED LIVE. They are just as good as they ever were, i would honestly be willing to bet that all of the people who dont like this album think that Bartender was the best song HED ever did.(and as MCUD would say, "Gay as* motherf*%<ers")

Very Underrated.,

I don't see what the problem is people have with this album. I was very impressed with this CD, yes it's vulgar and childish, but as far as I know, they did it on purpose. Raise Hell is honestly the best song, with a very nice guitar solo at around 3:35 until the end of the song. In short, this CD seems to be bashed and pissed on because it's not Broke.
Yes the Rap-Metal boom has been dead for years and yeah Hed should have gotten more respect, but it beats the worn out Metalcore bands such as KillSwitch, and Trivium among others, that play the same played out Hardcore with gothenburg riffs and solos. Also Hed isn't Nu Metal, as they don't play the same two cords over and over, and not to metion the guitar solo's, which Nu Metal never uses. Buy this CD, it's underrated.

I don't care what anyone's put.. Hed are a spectacular band, I love each of their cd's, Blackout is the only questionable one commercial-wise. This is their rawest and most vulgar material. The only 3 songs I skip on this cd are Raise Hell, The Truth, and that one where he said "this a little love song for all you b''''es." The bonus track is dope, this whole cd is great and it's no less Hed pe. They're on the right track and they need support to know they're still the sh't and to keep cutting dope records.. This is a really good cd..

For the true Hed fans.,

Listen, I've been a fan of hed since church of realities, and i have to say this is definitely the closest sound to the first (hed) album they have ever put out. It's awesome. Don't let haters tell you otherwise, because they just don't understand Hed. This album is a kick in the nuts to corporate music labels, and Jahred made these lyrics the way they were because it shows the newfound freedom he has on Koch records. Their first album (hed) was awesome, their second album Broke was great, but when they released Blackout, you could EASILY tell the restrictions that were laid down, and the album was not that great at all. Only In Amerika returns to the heavy Hed roots, and the first song on their, "Represent", shows that they Hed really has come back. This is a heavy album, the lyrics are funny, although a little vulgar, but who cares? If you know Jahred, you'll love what he has to say, plus the secret hip hop song at the end of the cd is TIGHT!!

Broke had some great positive things to say....this is just trash.....to much money....to many demons....if i wanted this trash i would of stuck with limp biskit.....what happened to the mystical Revelations? finding you place to stand up to something true? overcoming...this is all about sex and violence....a complete disappointment...My wish is that hed pe reads this and "wakes up" cause the "hardcore wigger pussy lovin" is not going anywhere....

maybe (hed) pe's worst... but still (hed) pe,
By
This review is from: Only in Amerika (Audio CD)
This is easily probably (hed) pe's worst album with maybe the exception of "blackout". But what people need to understand is Hed's rythym section took a serious hit with this album with the loss of two great guitarists wesstyle and Chizad and a great drummer B.C. So with that in mind the quality of the music isn't going to be as great as it used to be but they still do the job. There are some great (hed) p.e. classics on this Album with kick off track "Represent" also: "wake up" "war" "Voices" and "raise hell". The hidden rap song at the end of the CD is also a pleasent surprise. However there are some songs that just should have never been put on here that do drag the album down and just simply don't cut it. Mainly "the Truth" and "amerikan beauty". All in all there is still some raw (hed) pe material on here that any true fan can vibe with. I'm just thankful that (hed) pe is still around and they prove that they can still get down. It's only up hill from here thankfully. Check out "Back to Base X" and upcoming Album "insomnia".

(Hed) Planet Earth - O.I.A.,

I agree with some of the previous entries about the quality of the recording; however, being on a new label they didn't have the money to do the full album in a studio. A lot of the album was recording in Jah's apartment. The lyrics are pretty extreme: some may say unthoughtful - other's may say it was done intentionally so it wouldn't be on the radio. I don't quite believe either, They were put together very smart to claim "they don't want radio play" but at the same time they are getting the attention and still releasing singles. It also sounds so different from the other albums because it is a largely changed line-up and the songs were written with intent to be for a new band. The live show is still incredible! (Besides the new guitarist who is one of the worst musicians I have ever seen perform).

Wow, how pathetic,
A Kid's Review

Poor poor Jahred. He, like Mr. Durst, cannot accept the fact that funk/punk-infected rap metal is about as musically appetizing these days as a 6 year old plate of Thanksgiving leftovers.
Hed P.E. where definitely one of the better raprock outfits during the much dispised nu metal explosion of the late 90's. They had startling aggression and heaviness and a good variety of influences and some fairly memorable songs, especially off their s/t album. But then lineup change after lineup change occurred and the message was clear that metal bands trying to rap and/or hip hop fans trying to rock have got to go. Yet still, Jahred and his bandmates are desperately "g-punking" it defiantly in a day of garage rock and New Wave of American Metal bands. This album is full of very depressing lyrics, and I don't mean depressing in a teen angst Kurt Cobain/Jon Davis type way. I mean in the sense that its depressing that here we are in 2005 and we're still hearing lyrics about sex, violence, dissin' on the haters, and not much else. Jahred hasn't matured at all, his lyrics have really dumbed down. The guitar riffs are boring. Mawk's bass still sounds good. The drums extremely dull. And DJ Product.....do we really care about DJ's in bands anymore?

This is NOT for the weak . . .,

This cd is f**king awesome!!! I actually got this cd on February 4th at their show in Cleveland before it was released. I admit the first time I heard it I was a little blown away, but the more I listen, the more I love it!!! I like that there is no candy coated bulls**t and the fact they were allowed to do whatever they want shows. The blend every style of music (minus country)and make it into something that no other band on the market can even touch.
Yeah they cuss a lot, but this is NOT for the weak!!!! DUH!!! Go listen to Linkin Park if you want to feel good - this is for the real fans and if you aren't in - get the f**k out and quit your whining!!!! I love this cd and I can hardly stop listening to it - it is infectious and I hope these guys keep on the path they are going. Give it a chance - and yes I am a girl. Sure they talk about women in good and bad ways, but stop to think about it. How many times have you felt evil about someone (guy or girl)? I don't think that in this day and age they are that far out of line since sluts begin at about age 11. Anyway - I'll get off my soapbox here, but buy this cd and support these guys. They are true Americans who take their rights in this country seriously - and perhaps we should follow their path even if other people don't like it. Rock on!!!!

i know that most girls don't like this band, but even though i am a girl, i love their music. i never find their lyrics offensive, becuase they are normally done in an absolutely hilarious and clever way. i love going to their concerts and have even met the band. i have all their albums and have listened to them for a long time and i have to say that i am disappointed in what they have boiled down to. i really think that they can do a lot better. i am upset to hear about the line-up change since i love their old music, but i can't change that. i don't know that i would buy this album. and all of you ridiculous people saying they have been fans since the beginning saying that the beginning is "broke", i have to tell you that there is another amazing album before that, it was self-titled and a million times better that than this.
