Book Description

A charming romance about the lives and loves of people in a small Tennessee town. In the tradition of Debbie Macomber. "Hey, ya'll. Dixie Ferguson here. I run Ferguson's Diner in Angel Ridge, Tennessee. Population three hundred forty-five. It's a picturesque town in the valley of the Little Tennessee River, established in 1785. In the early days, its first families--the McKays, the Wallaces, the Houstons, the Joneses, and, of course, the Craigs--staked their claims on hundreds of acres of the richest bottom land anyone had ever seen. After all the years I've spent behind the counter at Ferguson's, I could probably tell ya'll a story about near everyone in town. But we only have so much time, so I'll narrow it down to just two for now. This is a story about coming home. It's also a story about acceptin' folks for who they are. You could say it's a story about Josie Allen, a librarian, and Cole Craig, a handyman, but I say it's a story about finding love where you'd least expect to."

About the Author

Born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee-that's in the upper eastern tip of the state-Deborah Grace-Staley is the youngest of four children. Since there were not a lot of neighborhood children to play with and no siblings close in age, she learned to amuse herself by creating stories that played out in her head. For some reason, she never gave a thought to committing them to paper.

A painfully slow reader, Deborah decided if she was going to earn a college degree, her reading speed would have to improve. So the summer before she entered King College in Bristol, Tennessee, she went to her local library and checked out a variety of books. She fell in love with Harlequins. By the end of the summer, she was reading a book a day written by classic romance authors such as Anne Mather and Carole Mortimer.

After earning her degree, she tried out a couple of careers before she settled into being a paralegal. Meanwhile, she kept reading romance while her own stories kept spinning around in her head, but now were demanding to be written. With a degree in French, she had no idea how to write a novel. So, she took three novel writing courses at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and got started. Four years and one baby later, with one completed book in hand, she began submitting, joined Romance Writers of America and began attending conferences for romance writers.

Deborah never sold that first book she wrote, and it took nine years before her dream of being a published romance novelist became a reality. Still, she never doubted that it would happen when the time was right. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Today, Deborah has retired from the life of a paralegal and works in the Department of Disability Services at the University of Tennessee. Married to her college sweetheart for eighteen years, they make their home on five acres in Maryville, Tennessee in a circa 1867 farmhouse with gingerbread trim that has Angel's Wings. She has one son whom she loves to watch play baseball and basketball.

Now that her stories are out of her head and on paper, she's so thankful for the opportunity to share them with readers! She'd love to hear from you via e-mail at or via snail mail at P.O. Box 672, Vonore, Tennessee, 37885. Include an SASE and she'll send you a bookmark and autographed bookplate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice and light August 26, 2009
Only You, my first book by author Deborah Grace Staley, is a fun and lighthearted romance. It's the kind of read that makes one feel warm and fuzzy and wish that perfect little towns full of perfectly flawed people really existed. In short, and nice little trip down Escapism Lane.
This story has my favorite kind of romance, love from afar, or as I jokingly call it "the loving stalker." The kind of hero who patiently waits for the right time to claim the women he wants, watching over her in the mean time, falling deeper in the love all the while. I also liked the cast of characters that are too good to be true, but quirky enough that you are willing to overlook it. It has some really amusing parts as well, such as when Josie and Cole have a serious discussion about hickeys. The element that most impressed me about this book is that, while the damsel is in distress, it doesn't render her incapable or suddenly stupid. In fact, she resents the fact that her knight in shining armor assumes that it does.
Some of the more trite and obvious characterizations, specifically with the antagonists, were disappointing. A man with clammy hands and a Poodle named Fifi? Really? I also found Cole's big secret to be rather frustrating. I don't want to spoil anyone's read so I'll just say that, given the build up, I was expecting something a bit more exciting and controversial. But these are minor complaints that shouldn't deter anyone interested in a relaxing read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet read July 1, 2009
Come meet the town folks of Angel Ridge, Tennessee. The town was founded by some of the richest families around...The McKays, the Wallaces, the Houstons, the Joneses, and, the Craigs. You could say that these people all had a rival with each other in the aspects of which family had more money. One way for them to show their wealth is to build this building or that building or to make the largest contribution. The only family that didn't spend their money frugally was the Craigs. They were happy living the simple life.

Josie Allen has returned home to work as a librarian for the Angel Ridge Library. Josie receives a phone call at work from a man named Cole Craig. Cole is the local handyman. He tells her that he noticed that there was water running from her home. It seems she has a busted water pipe.

After the first visit, Cole decides that he wants to get to know Josie better. It takes a little while to get Josie to warm up to him but eventually he wins Josie over and she agrees to go out on a date with him. Now all Cole needs to do is figure out where to take Josie. Luckily for him Dixie Ferguson, owner of Ferguson's Diner and match maker extraordinaire has stepped in to help Cole. Will Cole and Josie be a perfect match in heaven?

Only You is the first book in a brand new series by Deborah Grace Staley called The Angel Ridge Series. Only You is a charming and sweet story. At first you think that Cole and Josie come from two totally different walks of life but after getting to know them you realize that they aren't that so different. This book reminded me of the hit television show...The Gilmore Girls. Josie is Lorelai but not as kooky. Cole is Luke. The quiet, simple but sexy guy next door. Anyone looking for a good romanctic read, so try Only You. This series can only get better from here!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous story line and engaging southern charm to boot! September 29, 2010
By Heather
Fabulous! I was looking for a fun and romantic read after several mind bending books and this book did not disappoint. The humour, delightful romantic tension and engaging characters drew me in instantly and carried me through the entire book. That being said, it is not without substance and it had the perfect tale one would want to spend a few hours with.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tries Hard But Doesn't Quite Make It December 26, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
They were nothing more than casual acquaintances when they were in school together as children, but there's always been something about Josie Allen, now Dr. Josie Allen, that Cole Craig hasn't been able to forget, despite her years away obtaining that high dollar doctoral education. Now she's back in Angel Ridge putting that education to work in running the prestigious local library, and Cole can't help but notice (and appreciate) that neither one of them are children any longer.

Josie is struggling with the state of the art library program she created and she's starting to panic. With a Memorial Day deadline looming and computers that crash whenever they're touched, she can't seem to make the upgrade work and it's making her crazy. As if that weren't bad enough, she's stuck with her family house and feeling suffocated by the pressure of and obligations to the rich and influential McKay matriarch, who financed Josie's post graduate education in exchange of her taking over the job at the library when she graduated. As a result, Josie's starting to feel like an indentured servant to the snobby old biddy. She doesn't have time to breathe, let alone spend time with matter how fantastic a man he seems to have grown into. Not that Cole is going to let her work herself to death when he can do something to stop it.

He's a high school dropout from the wrong side of the tracks who works around town as a handyman. She's the daughter of one of the socialite families, highly educated and successful. It's a recipe for disaster, but Cole likes to stir things up and this woman's worth the storm.
