Insightful and captivating,
This review is from: Only Children (Kindle Edition)
Yglesias has created a beautifully written novel that will make the reader a smarter, wiser, and happier person. How is this possible you might ask?? "Only Children" is a far cry from a self help book, and yet it is a useful gift unlike any other. A psychologically deep and truthful story that really gets to the heart and soul of the ground that needs to be broken through and developed in order to become an emotionally alive and responsive parent, or partner of any sort. Yglesias has delivered a story that shows the reader exactly what lies in the shadows of what is barely knowable about ourselves through his characters' poignant experiences of their own interconnected yet hidden motivations, desires, longings, and losses which have a uniquely powerful grip on each of them. What ensues is a form of liberation and redemption of the most truthful kind...through the unpredictability of the human condition and through the gifted writing style of Rafael Yglesias.
