textbook in television absurdity, February 11, 2010

I was given this book years ago, when I first started doing tv, and it made me laugh out loud. I just re-read it, and now, I still laugh, but I wince much more: this book is far too true: unbelievably so, if you haven't experienced it yourself. Written in a breezy, readable style by a truly great writer ("Plain Speaking"). Here's a contemporary article about "Only you..." from Time Magazine:

An enjoyable, absurd and insightful book, with lessons for anyone who deals with "creative" types, or executives of any stripe.
"Classic" is an overused word. Let's just say this book is the very best of its kind. Highly recommended.
