This story jumped off the page from word one and didn't let go of my emotions until the words "the end." Danny and Pilar weren't just characters in a book, they became real life people that I rooted for with ever fiber of my being. I love the fact that this isn't your typical romance in that the couple has been married for years. It renewed my faith in love and happily ever after. Bravo, Ms. Sandoval. You are truly a remarkable writer.

This was a wonderful story! Ms. Sandoval has an incredible talent for bringing out the strong emotional feelings of her characters. She puts you, the reader, inside her hero and heroines head. I wouldn't have thought a story about a couple who had been married for more than ten years would have the same emotional impact as a "first meet" romance. BUT I was very wrong. This beautiful couple took me on a wild ride of ups and downs. I was rooting for Danny and Pilar the entire book--I wanted Danny to learn how to communicate with Pilar, and I wanted Pilar to reach a deeper understanding of her husband's psyche. This book delivered on so many levels. Don't miss it! You won't be disappointed.

I will admit that I started this book expecting not to like it. The reason...they were already married. Where is the excitement? Boy was I surprised. I loved it. I could feel every emotion that Danny was feeling. It was romantic and sexy. It was truly a "feel good" story.

Pilar Valenzuela and Danny had been married for fourteen years and had two small boys. They had been sweethearts all through school and their marriage had been heaven. HAD BEEN!

Danny was policeman with a shot at a position of Sergeant. He worked lots of overtime and missed many important family events. In short, Danny was a major work-aholic! And by putting his job first and his family second, he was destroying his marriage. Still, it came as a complete surprise to him when he came home the day after their anniversary (and he had forgotten it again) to find Pilar waiting for him with his suitcases packed! She refused to allow Danny to continue to put work before family any longer. She kicked him out. Finally realizing that he was losing the family he loved more than life, Danny was determined to change his working habits and win his wife back!

***** Oh, I loved this story! The author did an excellent job and I could not put the story away! The characters became so real to me that I could feel their anguish! This one is a must! *****
