This is just a general comment on Joe Purdy and ALL of his music. I can not say enough about EVERY CD by Joe Purdy! I just wish I could get his first couple of CD's - Joe Purdy as well as Sessions from Motor Ave. He has a sound similar to Jack Johnson and Matt Costa, YET he has a sound all of his own. It is music you can listen to and I SO enjoy it!!

I first heard Washed Away on LOST & The City on Grey's Anatomy and bought the sound track for THAT song. I then went and searched and searched for more of his music!! Glad to see it is available through Amazon now :)

I never heard of Joe Purdy until listening to XM radio last week. I heard the song "The City", which is probably my favorite on the cd. Other highlight include "Look At Me Now" and "Why Do I".. His singing reminds me of Jesse Malin. This cd is solid through and through.

If you Liked "August and Everthing After" and have been disapointed with the Crows since, you need to check this out. He voice sounds amazingly similar to Adam's and the music will take to that Van place that August did. I seldom buy discs that are so good all the way through. The kind of good that you don't know which one to play for your friends first. This is that kind of good. "The City", "Look at You Now", and "Why do I" are standouts and "Andrea" will bring back memories of the first time you heard "Anna Begins".

I first heard Joe Purdy's 'Julie Blue' online and was immediately entranced. That CD was recorded live while he stayed at someone's place on a river and he reflects on the river in the music. I then asked around and tried to find another one of his CDs that I might like just as much. Not getting any feedback from anyone I bit the bullet and bought this one. I can't say that I enjoy it as much as I do Julie Blue (I am after all a river boy) but it's good, really, really good. If you haven't heard of Joe Purdy, listen to something of his. He's a singer/songwriter in the folk tradition with great talent and a raspy, soulful sound.

I enjoy the CD overall, although some tracks more than others. Early tracks come close to sounding too much like Dave Matthews for me, but he gets away from that before crossing the line. I would have given it 3.5 stars but it was no an option. Bottom Line: I am happy with the purchase.
