This review is from: Her Only Hero (The Flanagans, Book 4) (Love Inspired #313) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was by far THE best in the Flanagan series; that is the best in the ones I have read thus far(and I have read the books about Gabe, Brendan, Seth, Fiona).
The plot read almost like a suspense story at times. The depth of emotions experienced by all was totally in line with Ryan's character as developed in previous books although this book can stand on its own. It was interesting also to get Mandy's life-story and I thought that it was very real and practical. I totally agreed with who the villain turned out to be because I found that he was too smarmy for me. The attraction between Laura and Ryan was there from the get-go and I liked the progression throughout the book. Of course I liked the spiritual element and how God was working throughout the story all along. I am off to get Terry's story now but I highly recommend this book. :-)

I was hesitant to read a "romance novel" but tried this one and found it very enjoyable. The writing is well done, the characters are believable and the situations are true to life. I have known real people who mere in families like the Flanagans and also I have know real people like Laura the single mom who is the main character. To me this book rings true to life, and I appreciated that fact.
The dialog is not "cheezy." The spiritual elements are not at all preachy, but more in step with my own understanding of how God works as we wrestle with understanding life and other people. I need not relate the theme and plot as others have done so, but I just wanted to add my two cents worth. As a man I liked this book and give it five stars. I plan to read more novels in the "Love Inspired" series.

Laura McKay was a widow with a deaf daughter, trying to make their way in a world that seems big, cold and expensive! Ryan Flanagan was a firefighter, trying to find his own way in a family of firefighters, afraid to make a mistake that could hurt someone. Both had turned away from God in their own way. Laura struggled to turn the old building into a saleable apartment and shop so that she could pay for Mandy's cochlear implant surgery. There's an arsonist afoot, can Ryan find out who it is and stop them before his new boss arrests Laura?
I found this book especially interesting,Having had both had my husband pass away when my daughter was 2 and having friends on both sides of the cochlear implant debate.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written, believable, and not cheesy as some Christian romance novels can be. Both main characters were very likable, as was the little girl in the story.
