This special pairing of two very talented guys ensures the delivery of some classic melodic rock moments. The 'Poley' of course belongs to Ted Poley (vocalist for Danger Danger) and 'Rivera' belongs to Vic Rivera (guitarist for Adriangale/Crunch). 'Only Human' features a terrific set of songs that will feel very familiar to fans of Ted Poley and Danger Danger. Ted continues to grow as a vocalist and Vic Rivera has unquestionably delivered the best set of songs that he has written to date. The Poley/Rivera partnership is an inspired and creative force that has delivered a classic style melodic rock record here and will only continue to develop into the future.

The Good
Hot off the heels of his near-perfect solo album Smile, Ted Poley (Danger Danger) returns with his old friend Vic Rivera (Adriangale/Crunch) for their second venture together. The combined vocal melodies of "Did We Just Have a Moment" really drives the track home. On top of that, the track has a hypnotic guitar riff. "Delirious" starts off subtle with a simple guitar groove, but builds up to a powerful chorus. "Fire at Will" comes charging at you with both barrels blazing.

The chorus to "Top of the World" drives home just how well matched Poley and Rivera are. This is another one of those tracks that you think are going to be soft, but build up quickly to rock the joint. "The Bigger They Come" has an AC/DC guitar feel to it. Of course versus AC/DC vocally, its like night and day. The album's title track "Only Human" is great track in both lyrics and melody. "N.W.S." is a killer hard rock track with a great vocal hook.

Going into this album I knew nothing of Vic Rivera, and plenty about Ted Poley. Only Human honestly sounds like two great melodic rock musicians in the studio having a good time sharing their strengths and pumping out some awesome tunes. This duo match up perfectly in melody and know how deliver that European melodic rock sound. Chalk up another great album for Mr. Poley.

Ted Poley is best known for his band Danger Danger. Vic Rivera is in the band AdrianGale with Ex Guardian Singer Jamie Rowe. This CD is going to be in the Best of 2009 for sure. It is like having a modern version of Danger Danger with Ted on vocals. Highlights are Top Of The World, Insanity, Only Human, The Bigger They Come and Keep On Fighting. There are no fillers and this is a classic! If you like AdrianGale, Danger Danger, Marchello/Vestry, H.E.A.T. and Goodbye Thrill, you have to have this in your collection.
