This review is from: The Only Land They Knew: The Tragic Story of the American Indians in the Old South (Paperback)
This really helps us understand that slavery should not be associated with just Black Americans. Black Americans and Native Americans were both exploited peoples during slavery and after.
For anyone with roots in the American South, we have a deep history here, within the walls east of the Mississippi. Also, I feel Natives west of the Mississippi would benefit from reading this book and see how their Eastern counterparts suffered during this colonization. The Eastern Indians faced the brunt of the New World assault. Hopefully they can see why many people, especially in the American south have Indian, African and European ties to these first people.

Leitch really shows us who the real southerners were. May we salute our ancestors.
