Only Love is Real by Brian Weiss, is the third book by this incredible author. If I could, I would rate this book with 10 stars. Although one does not have to read his previous two books to read this book, he does make references throughout, but his explanations guide the reader and one is never confused or lost. Many Lives, Many Masters and Through Time Into Healing are his previous two and both are as riveting as this book. As with his other books, I could not put this book down either. The messages imparted in this book are numerous for the deep connection of twin souls. Weiss states, "Destiny dictates the meeting of soulmates. We *will* meet them. But what we decide to do after that meeting falls in the province of choice or free will. A wrong choice or a missed chance can lead to incredible loneliness and suffering. A right choice, an opportunity realized, can bring us to profound bliss and happiness."

Weiss shares the story of two of his patients relating similar past lives, and he eventually connects the two and "intervenes" to introduce them. I am sure we have all had the experience of meeting someone and just "knowing" that we know them on a much deeper level, but we can't explain it. Those that come into our lives are either ready to meet their "other half" or as Weiss put it, they are "not awakened" yet.

Weiss speaks throughout the book on the meaning and value of love and indeed, "only love is real." He urges us to forget and forgive our past mistakes, to learn from them and move on - to live fully in the present and not to worry about the future. This book is one incredible, beautiful lesson in love. Weiss urges the reader to listen to one's heart, as the ego has other agendas, as do other people. "There is someone special for everyone." How does one recognize a soulmate? - Weiss states it most profoundly, "When both recognize each other, no volcano could erupt with more passion. The energy released is tremendous. Passion in a relationship cannot be artificially created . . . . . but the chemistry has to be there from the start." Oh how so very true!!! "The person may not recognize the chemistry. The attraction is definitely there but the source of chemistry is not understood. It is delusional to believe that this passion, this soul recognition and attraction will be easily found again with another person. You do not run into a soulmate every day . . .The more awakened a couple is, the more likelihood of a decision based on love. When both partners are awakened, ecstasy is within their grasp."

Weiss shares the past lives of both Elizabeth and Pedro and the reader is able to see them in different lifetimes, as different sexes, yet they are always together, learning soul lessons and coming back again and again to be together. As with his previous books, messages come from Elizabeth under hypnosis, from "higher conscious masters", imparting loving and profound messages to Weiss: "Love dissolves fear. You cannot be afraid when you are feeling love. When allowed to flow freely, love overcomes all obstacles." Both of their past lives are most fascinating and the lessons learned are indeed enlightening. I have used one of Weiss' past regression tapes and they are incredible and one can "see" as he states in the book.

Weiss also share with the reader, his own experiences with his soulmate and wife, Carol, and the "obstacles" that they had to over come. "Destiny is persistent" as Weiss states and as seen in this book and as can be related in our lives, it doesn't give up - we only have to listen.

This book is fascinating, thought-provoking and my highlighter was in overtime in reading!!! So many, many endearing and important thoughts on love and just being. I have read all of Weiss' books and it is so hard to believe that they can get any better, but it is true!!! Reading his books, one can experience a deep sense of healing and a profound infusion of love. This is not only a book about love, but also a book about hope. This is a "must have" have book and also one that you want to share with those in your life - "Listen to your heart, to your own intuitive wisdom when deciding about a gift of destiny, such as a soulmate. Destiny will deposit its gift directly at your feet, but what you subsequently decide to do with the gift is up to you. Your heart knows what you need. Other people have other agendas."

A most excellent book - I have read it three times already!

Only Love is Real, by Brian L. Weiss is fantastically well written. He candidly shares the lives of his patients and his own insights in a highly skilled manner. I do not desire to give anything away in this review. However, I will tell you Weiss's accounts documented in Only Love is Real are both fantastic and very surprising. Personally I was enthralled with the reports of Weiss's actual patient sessions. Only late in the journey of this volume did I realize where he was going; somewhere incredibly stirring with absolutely electrifying social and spiritual implications! The passages you will read will resonate for a long time after you have finished the book. The depth and implication of the shared accounts cannot be entirely comprehended at first view. Weiss has unearthed something truly remarkable here. I would be very surprised if any reader would not find their outlook on life and love changed and enriched after reading Only Love is Real. This is not simply another book by another physician. Contained in the pages of Only Love is Real are revelation after revelation. Weiss's subject is intriguing and keeps the reader wanting more. So often medical doctors lack a tactful, enjoyable to read prose. Weiss's imagery and countenance draw the reader deeper and deeper into the story. Only Love is Real will also appeal to many readers of romance or "love stories". There is no kissing, no intensely tender love scenes, but the story presented is arguably one of the most passionate, loving and poignant tales of true love ever shared. I would recommend Only Love is Real to anyone. I do not know any person that would not benefit from and enjoy the book. It is not necessary to believe in reincarnation or life after death to be captivated by Weiss's book!

This book was the first of Brian Weiss's I'd ever read, and I must say I stayed with it until I finished every last sentence! The book verified what I have long believed...that we travel from one life to another with "soulmates" and ultimately make contact with those individuals in one form or another. How many of us have met an individual for the first time, only to instantly connect with that person as if we'd known them forever! Dr. Weiss's experiences with his patients prove that love is real, and once you find that very special person, you connect with them in a way that even death cannot take away. The book sent chills through me as I read experiences similar to what has occurred in my own life with one special individual. What a thrill it must be to sit through a regression session with Dr. Weiss! Since reading "Only Love is Real", I've read all his other books, and eagerly await the next!

Brian Weiss is a credited psychotherapist and professor of psychology at the University of Miami. When working with patients, he specializes in hypnotherapy. Weiss is a strong advocate of the theory of reincarnation of the soul. He uses hypnosis as a key to get into his patients' past lives. Weiss analyzes the events that occurred and the people present in them that shape who they are in their current flesh. Only Love is Real is a book that explains how the soul creates an attachment to the people it has associated with in other lives, thus realizing the term "soulmate." He explains how a soulmate can be in the form of a friend, mother, father, sibling, and most notably a lover. Only Love is Real is Weiss' log of the hypnotherapy between two patients from very different backgrounds that proves his belief on soulmates. Elizabeth was seeing Dr. Weiss to deal with the recent death of her mother and to find answers to her problems with relationships. Pedro was undergoing past-life regression therapy with Dr. Weiss to solve his personal troubles. The two were complete strangers to each other. While undergoing the hypnotherapy, Weiss made the shocking discovery that Elizabeth and Pedro were precisely describing the same lives. They were not strangers at all, in fact, they were soulmates. The two had lost each other during the transition of lives and their souls brought them together again under the therapy of Dr. Weiss. Weiss was to serve as the median between two long-lost lovers. In what could have been a career-destroying move, Weiss goes on to reuniting the souls after years of solitude, and proving that "Only Love is Real."

I had already grown a personal respect for Dr. Brian Weiss after reading his debut work, Many Lives, Many Masters, which explains and reinforces the idea that our souls have one purpose in the world, and go through many lives to achieve that goal. I feel one can only fully appreciate his following book Only Love is Real after being exposed to his beliefs in Many Lives, Many Masters. There is often controversy surrounding the validity and truthfulness to his works, but I think that is unimportant. I do not think his books are to be taken as a bible, but rather as mind-opening, spiritually-stimulating guides to help one realize that not everything may be what is commonly accepted. Because the fact is, people often use religion as comfort zones in order not explore what is unknown to them. I know because I was one of them. I was raised in a standard Catholic household. There was heaven if you were good and hell if you were bad, and that was it. I am personally attached to Weiss' works because, although I may not particularly believe in everything he writes about, they serve as internally maturing guides that help me realize what I personally have faith in, and not what people have been drilling into my head since I was baptized.

Reassuring

For people who feel there must be more to life than just living in the present, Brian Weiss illustrates through his case studies and the messages from above that this is indeed the case. In today's world a lot of people feel lonely and find it hard to find a love that is completely fulfilling in all aspects - body, mind and soul. This book shows us that love is there always, and that we will be guided to it when the time is right for us. Our life - or rather lives - on earth are for a specific learning purpose, and once we accept this, and that there are our families of soulmates either here on earth or above to help us always, we can be reassured that we are not alone ever. This book is not just about finding perfect love, but how opening our hearts will draw the right thing to us, be it love or other things in our lives.

When a soulmate arrives they can see the real you. The you beyond the mask and the scripts and the roles you play. Even if you have spent a lifetime creating a persona behind job titles, social connections, money, life experiences, etc ... they will see through it all in an instant. You cannot run and you cannot hide no matter how hard you try. You also cannot forget them even if you were to run to another place in the world and get really caught up in other things. Soul connections, especially cultivated over lifetimes, are beyond time and space or any lengths humans go to deny what is the truth. Dr. Weiss eloquently explains here that you are not crazy ... you are simply connected to a soul mate. A fascinating book on the nature of soul love and why its ok to never forget that person despite it all. One of my friends in San Francisco who is both a medical professional and an alternative medicine practitioner mentioned this book to me. It certainly shed a unique notion on some of my own life experiences. Some people are easier to forget even if you cared. Why? They may have been a "contract or project" mate instead of a soul mate. A contract mate is one who is in your life to push you forward and live out a growth lesson with. So when its complete (the assignment) it only takes a bit of time to be back to your usual self. A soul mate is far more than that ... they are the people who often bring you back to your essence... the real you that you may have run from in pain as a youth. It's like ugly duckling plain Jane who was the social outcast in a small town and found herself on top of the world in an international city being the toast of the town, the Queen of the scene, and talked about. Despite a persona of urban hip sophisticate success story with a personality to boot ... along comes the boy next door who sees the real her, the girl who liked poetry and arts and crafts festivals. It's startling and it can be scary. Hence, why they can see you in a way others can't. After pretending for years to be a certain type of person socially ... I met a soul mate ... and no matter what I did... he cut right through it and called me on it time and time again. It was frustrating but inevitably enlightening.

Dr. Weiss' experiences with regression therapy, and the incredible, inspiring stories of his patients, have given me a whole new interpretation on everything from my own views on death and the afterlife to the real purpose of our lives here, and why there is still reason to hope. I bought this book after finding my own soulmate, seeking answers to powerful, otherwise inexplicable connection we have, and got even more answers and profound insight than I bargained for. I never was certain if I believed reincarnation was real or not until I began reading Dr. Weiss' books, and now reincarnation is a matter of fact in my life, and in my perspective on everything. I would recommend this book, and any of Dr. Weiss' books, to anyone who has wondered what our real purpose is, what souls and soulmates are really all about, or who is looking for healing answers to life's pain and loneliness.

This is a fascinating story about two people who went to Dr. Weiss for past-life regression therapy. There are many levels of soulmates, and Elizabeth and Pedro were of the deeper kind. They had spent many lifetimes together, sharing a great love, but in this lifetime they were strangers. Chapter by chapter we see the story of these two souls, aching to find each other, coming closer and closer, like two streams converging into a mighty river. Finally, Dr. Weiss sees the connection between them, but what is his duty as their therapist? Is it his place to play matchmaker, or should he leave it up to the fates to decide?

For anyone who fears to never find love in a barren world, or who has lost someone very dear to them, Dr. Weiss's book on the persistence of love and relationship beyond the threshold of death will be of great comfort.

In "Many Masters, Many Lives", Dr. Weis makes a finepoint in explaining his own doubts about the meaning of Past LifeRegression memories... But even though it was very difficult torefute, there was always the possibillity that all of that could be the patient's "fantasies"... Now, He presents another evidence, most of the times unseen by the critics: two people, unknown for each other, remembering the SAME events! And the sequence of events will astonish any unbeliever! Of course, one could always say this is only fiction, that Dr. Weiss is trying to promote himself, but... well, just read it (actually, read both of them!) and make your own decision!

I read this book years ago and it has just come true for me...literally.Ironically,I saw this book lying on a table in my bedroom,about a year before I met my soulmate.It should not have been there and yet it was.I picked it up,remembered reading it in my early twenties,smiled and put it away in a box.Roughly a year later it happened...I met her...the one...and the circumstances behind that meeting were staggering and cosmic beyond belief.I am still shaking my head in amazement.We are actually psychic with one another!I am ordering this book for her and we are also writing our own book detailing our mind-blowing connection.If you're out there searching,all I can tell you is,don't give in to despair.Let your faith and your soul show you the way.It can and does happen.I know,because it happened to me.
