4.0 out of 5 stars Conspiracy theories?
Guess what? It's not only Stiv, it's Sham 69 backing him up! In between his solo album and Lords Of The New Church Stiv & the Sham boys put together this heavily produced (strings) and paranoid album based on a little kid and conspiracy theories (? I'm a little unclear on the concept). Underneath it all it's still vintage Stiv Bators, same voice, attitude and the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Former boot boys and punk front man surprised us all!
As an avid Lords of The New Church fan, I can say, with sincerity that this record kicked some butt!
Honestly, Dead Boys have their place but I was never a big fan. They were at their best with "Ain't It Fun?" but couldn't capitalize on that track, in my opinion.
Stiv went solo and released two, very well played LP's on Bomp Records.
The Wanderers is...

I'm a little unclear on the concept). Underneath it all it's still vintage Stiv Bators, same voice, attitude and the usual appearance of 60's garage influences. If you're expecting Dead Boys don't. If you want a cool post-punk rocknroll album you'll buy this. ps. It was virtually lost for years, this is it's first reissue ever!

I couldn't have said it better than the guy who reviewed this album before me, but I just had to leave a good review. The Wanderers, though short-lived, were not given the attention they deserved for this masterpiece album... (Well, generally speaking, Stiv Bators never got the recognition he deserved - he was one of the best front men EVER. This CD just showcases how talented he is, and combining styles with Sham 69 is just about as awesome as it gets...

3.0 out of 5 stars Former boot boys and punk front man surprised us all!, October 6, 2010

As an avid Lords of The New Church fan, I can say, with sincerity that this record kicked some butt!
Honestly, Dead Boys have their place but I was never a big fan. They were at their best with "Ain't It Fun?" but couldn't capitalize on that track, in my opinion.

The Wanderers is very much in the same style: poppy rock n' roll without sounding cheesy. For instance, the fact that Sham 69 is the supporting band demonstrates the diversity of the players. Who could ever picture the former boot boys cranking out these tracks?
Now, I was always a fan of 60's garage rock, so Stiv takes that influence and puts his snotty twist on it and there ya go! Nobody can deny the connection between 60's garage rock and first wave Punk.
This record is well-played and the guitars are very punchy.
Last I checked, Captain Oi! reissued this record, so hit them up for a copy!
The Biters from Atlanta are a new band that continues to update this style of music, so check 'em out!
