4.0 out of 5 stars A good, if not oddly constructed, album. July 17, 2010
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
I stumbled upon Biffy Clyro entirely by chance thanks to their song playing in the trailer for Charlie St. Cloud. After a little searching, I came upon this album. Only Revolutions is chock full of big hooks and clever lyrics, with song like 'Many of Horror' and 'The Captain' leading the way. However, I think it was put together a bit slap dash and there are tracks that just don't seem to belong. The pacing of the album is a bit thrown off, as can be seen in between 'Mountains' and 'Many of Horror'. Two great songs with huge emotion end up sandwiching the terrible and out of place 'Shock Shock'. The album has some incredible and honest music, but it feels like they might have missed out on an even better, cohesive experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Thing Is For Sure...Biffy Clyro Is A Really Good Band. September 10, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'll be honest, I didn't know about Biffy Clyro, until seeing them live at the Rockness Festival and they blew me away. A bit of Indie, a bit of grunge, pop, it's a nice mix of genres...but what I like the most about Biffy is their lyrics, the type that make you think for a split second....or take you away (Many of Horror).

As for other reviewers saying the different "moods" in the album are a bit off...I beg to differ, I like it when a band knows how to mix it up a bit. Albums that have the same stream through out, tend to get boring fairly quick. So Biffy Clyro did it right by my standards; of course, we all have different tastes and opinions.

Whatever your take is about this album in particular, one thing is for sure...Biffy Clyro is a really good band, so don't pass them up. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good November 18, 2011
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great hooks, strong pop sensibility with enough hardness to knock you off your chair every now and then. Elements of Kyuss, Foo, Jimmy Eat, and a little Scottish folkish flare, duct taped together in a very new way. Really a delicate balance. This is one of the best bands in the world right now. Saw them on festival live set on PLD and was stricken. Big Live Power Trio feel that is rare now. Must see them live.

Love this album. The songs do not sound the same (like many albums). Also many songs start of very different than how they end. I love this album from Biffy Clyro. Read more
