Oddly Titled Collection,
By A Customer
This review is from: Only Rock 'N Roll: 1985-1989 (Audio CD)
It's tough to find a true rock and roll song on this CD (maybe "Keep Your Hands to Yourself"), so the title is faulty; however, big hits from the 1980s are here in their original forms. Over 76 minutes with great sound quality, but no liner notes.

This review is from: Only Rock 'N Roll: 1985-1989 (Audio CD)
I played this a lot in early 1998! Very well balanced collection of pop and R&B hits from 1985 to 1989, though a few from 1984 that were hits in 1985 were included. Aretha Franklin kicks the album off with a bang and the album continues with hits from David Lee Roth, Animotion, Jack Parr, the Bangles, White Lion, Taylor Dayne, Bobby Brown, Los Lobos, Club Nouveau, Fleetwood Mac and others. A lot of it concentrates on Warner Bros and Atlantic Records artists, since the CD is distributed by Warner Bros. But artists from labels like Arista and MCA are included. The compilation producer did a fine job with compiling the 20 songs and making sure a set of ballads followed the uptempo numbers that were first. Only drawback, putting an 1989 song back to back with a 1987 song. What about 1988? Respect that year, please, next time! Entertaining for all of its 76 minutes and recalling what made 80s music exciting and chance taking!
